This disply was the winner from my Riddick Knife Active Project.

I still have a bunch of the $10 wood display kits left and I'm sure Roman could provide the metal plaques if anyone is still looking for a way to display their knives.

I believe the Knives Peace Maker is talking about are the inaccurate version sold with leather wrapped handles.

    Here's mine,

A little expanding foam, some scrap sheet metal, and a large shadow box. The plaque is from the DVD cover. Enjoy.

Yeah, Ebay is flooded with 'em and they usually go for, like, $1 with $30 shipping. Here's a picture of one. They have leather grips which would make for easier removal if you have the utility knife replacement grips. BUT, the blades appear to be painted or powder coated black which would need removal... more work.

yea i odered those ones, i guess i prefer matte black blades to chrome ones ;) but it sounds like these blades can be converted to accurate riddick blades. can someone explain how? also how i can get one of those cool plaques you guys are showin off :p. thanks

the handles are made from xacto utility knife handles.

i found a bunch at a local michaels just a few months back, were like 10 bucks each i think, then just put the knives in the handles, a little trimming on the insides of the handles, and the blades handle areas to fit the blades in the handles..... handles are chromed so need to be painted black after a little putty work, and your done, pretty easy really,

The utility knife handles that I have weren't chromed but were cheaply cast aluminum and just required a little scuffing before painting.

Peacemaker... The blades of the ones posted above aren't chromed either, it's just shiny stainless steel and can be easily dulled to appear as they did in the movie.

wierd..... mine were chromed or plated, as were all the ones my friends or ones i saw in stores as well :unsure the outer finish was clearly different from the inside which was left plain aluminium.....

You may want to try brake cleaner. It eats through a number of finishes. Careful with it. Do it outdoors with adequate ventilation.

If that doesn't work, you may have to sand and polish.

darcjedi..what did you use to attache the rings to yours?
I just picked up a set of silver ones off ebay and have the handles coming soon..I just noticed on some screens the rings and was thinking I might want to add them but wasn't sure what to use to get them attached really well.
    tips?

Peace maker..I saw those on there also and noticed it was said to be teflon..another guy said it was paint. I hunted around on ebay till I found plane silver ones but they have the same braided grip as yours. I have no clue what to use but if it's teflon you may just want to go right to a sandblaster then polish them back up.

i did one with the ring, and one without the ring... to match the set that phillipes brokered a while back, and i kinda liked the idea of a hero/stunt set.

as for the ring... lemme see if i can explain this. i picked up a copper plumbing fitting that had a diameter of around 1 1/8", which is a tad big... probably should have been closer to 1". i sliced off a scetion approx. 1/4" thick, then cut a groove partially through the ring, in the center. then i took a piece of sheetmetal, and shaped it so it would fit nicely in the slot in the ring, and securely in the handle. then i soldered it to the ring, and just packed the area around the sheet metal part with epoxy putty when i assembled the handle around the blade, and its been nice and tight ever since.

sorry i dont have any pics... didnt think to take any when i was building my set.

At some point during the filming, the knives had rings mounted on them (screen-used in pic IIRC):

I didn't put them on mine, since they aren't there through much of the film imo.

    anybody?

also, whats a good way to dull the stainless blades to look more screen accurate? any putty suggestions would be welcome too, i'm definitely not sure what's best to use...

rocketsauce, you will need to do some filing of the ribs inside the new handles in order to fit the blade handle. PM Bobadebt to see if he still has the instructions for doing this from his Riddick swing blade active project.

Awww--you spoiled all of my fun :love

OK-- One of those is rubber--the other is the AMT Bronze cast metal--You tell me which is which--

I am working on this one and will let everyone know when they will be available. Probably at the Michigan Prop party I would suspect.
