Well here's a new wrinkle to the ever-warring field, apparently owning more than a couple of people money has sent Richie into a very quiet spell, not answering email or even the phone.
Anyone heard from him lately?
I've also caught wind of a "New sculpt" of stormtrooper armor which bears remarkable resemblance to that of "he who Must Not be Mentioned" on these boards. Hmm.
If anyone cares anymore.....

On this same issue, I've heard a lot of chatter around the SW universe about a big crackdown on armor and armor sellers. Any ideas as to who, what, when, where, why, and how? Just curious as I was about to try and start a trooper suit.

Jax,

If members are unhappy with purchases from RA ,then I suggest they come forward themselves. There is not an armor maker in the history of sunblock that has not had to weather third or fourth party innuendos. They create a non-arbitrative environment and fail to resolve anything.

Since the 501 has been recognized as an official fan group by GL himself, I doubt any member is going to have problems in assembling a costume.

Where the problem lies is in altitude of profile. The quiet hobbiest has no concerns. The guy who decides to fly banners, post internet catalogues with shopping carts, blatantly use SW logos and openly promotes and markets his unlicensed stuff is inviting a crackdown on himself.

So, asking here for the "who, what, when, where, why, and how," may draw attention to hobbiests who prefer to quietly practice their craft to help meet the needs of other 501 members. Certainly don't want to embarass anyone through armchair speculation.

If you want to read on going discussion and speculation on people currently under the spot light with LFL, I suggest you try our search engine under Prop forum. Type in "SDS".

I have heard that MR is now going to offer full suits, and LFL is going to crack down as to give MR all the sales, that way, there are no ebay sellers, no private sellers, and nothing like the whole AA thing, going down here in the states.

AKA: LFL makes all the profits on new 501sters and anyone wanting trooper armor anywhere.

Whoa. I haven't heard anything about that.

Only a matter of time. Not really a bad thing IMHO. Cant cost much more than the SDS.

This thread is completely laughable..........

First if I owe anyone money its only for current projects that Im working on..many not even prop related as Im doing many auto restoration items right now . And in no way should it be the concern of ANYONE but the individuals involved.

Second. Trooper armor. Give me a break. This idiotic subject gets thrown around about every 2 weeks on this forum. The armor I have is sculpted as well as copies of TEs helmet...a deal we worked out years ago. Without your input I might add Jumpin Jax..... I dont know who you are nor do I care..

Now as far as getting ahold of me...I dont in ANY way solicite ANY orders, input etc from ANYONE... if I choose to answer e-mails, phone calls etc I do that solely by my choice and any concern you may have...Jumpin Jax... means absolutely nothing to me.. Get it?? If I need to make myself clearer then I guess my wording will need to get the mods involved.

Oh and BTW...If youre in ANY way sellering ANY unlicensed armor you better hide your head..the sh^$%ts about to hit the fan...

Tell that to TE and any off the 501st..they better get ready to shed that unlicensed armor for the NEW MR stuff and be ready to pay for it....

I heard MR was going to start manufacturing full scale, fully equiped Death Stars for the US Governments StarWars program. It's the only way LFL can regain license control over the Defense department's use of the term "Star Wars". :D

And they say service is dead :) :lol

Interesting indeed.

I have NEVER had a problem with communciation from RA. I have a set of their shin tools (Boba Fett) and not only was the communication good, the speed of the product was pretty good.

Re: Death Star manufacturing issues:

I heard there have been production delays due to employee benefit cost over-runs, you got any idea how hard it is to get insurance for contractor crews in one of those things? After the last few fiascos, they don't call it the Death star for nothing.

I know its of little significance but I do work a real job of about 80 hours on average a week..This does tend to slow some replies due to not being able to sit at a computer all day like some customers get to do.

I completely understand the anticipation of getting something of interest in a speedy manner but some fail to realize that ALL items that Ive ever done are hand made and take time to work through. I make it clear that all orders may have some backlog etc prior to shipping. The second I throw something together the sooner its returned..

Later

Richie
