Republic Commando - is there any accurate armor?

I was looking around at pictures of people in Republic Commando armor and none of them look right. The armor in the game makes the guys look like tanks while the actual costumes look like they are too thin. The in game armor looks really thick like it sits off the chest about 1/2" or more, it's not thin armor sitting right on your chest, like most of the costumes seem to have. Also the leg armor in game looks equally thick. I'm obviously not asking you to post names, but is there any armor available that is accurate?

Useless?

I know that there is a guy in my garrison who did one of the Omega Squad costumes. If I remember right, they used the same Clone armor, just with the RC helmet, of course.

:confused Are you sure about that? I am no expert on clone or RC armor, but they are not even close to being the same.

Yea, the RC armor is completly different from the regular clone. The only similarities that I can think off the top of my head is the thigh armor.

I found the polymerarmor kit to be very accurate.

And as for the guys that make it look skinny, well, they need to get on a high protein diet :lol

To be honest, I can't be sure. I only saw the costume once and my memory could be lacking. While, I could swear, that he used the same armor, now that you are questioning it, I am not really sure.

Sorry. And here I thought I was trying to be helpful! :unsure

Here's what I'm talking about:

One good way to see the difference between this and the fan made armor is to look at the calf armor. It is really thick. Also look at the following pictures, and check out the thickness of the chest armor against the neck seal, which are big so I'm only linking:

I think if the fan made versions added a larger lip to the chest armor to give it depth so it would stand off your chest more, it would look way better. I know you can't vacuuform something that's about 1/2" thick so that might be the only option. You could probably do the same thing with the calves too.

I've got a cool idea for a working (at least extendable/retractible) vibroblade so if I eventually find a good set of armor it might work.
