Funny there was a brilliant photo in the Times yesterday or day before of a weasel on the back of a kingfisher in flight. I'm guessing this picture is in reference to that? The real reason for Harrison Ford's crash. Some extra weight on the plane.

Maybe he did it to try and get out of doing Blade Runner 2.
I have a similar theory.
It's well known that Harrison Ford hoped Han Solo would die at the end of ROTJ...and even ESB. I think he's been rooting for that character to kick the bucket for years. But then -- CURSES!! -- a new Star Wars trilogy is announced and he's given more money than God to be in it! At first, he was fine with it, but as the shooting wore on, those old impulses returned. "Must...kill...Han Solo.........MUST....KILL....HAN SOLO.....)
I think this is all part of a clever plan he has to ensure that he's unavailable to continue filming. If he can sufficiently injure himself to not be able to play the part...but not be so injured that he's permanently incapacitated...he'll have achieved his goal.
The first phase of the plan was the "door incident." Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to get him out of the whole sequel trilogy, so he decided to up the ante.
