Funny, not appropriate , but funny

Well his son has posted that he's ok so I don't see a few jokes as a bad thing. Abit of humor after the fact and knowing he's ok is not disrespectful. When I've known friends to have an accident and end up being ok I've always found a little humor lightens things a bit. Glad he's ok. :)

I just wonder if he was yelling "start the engine"

Seriously though it sounds like he put the plane down there to avoid houses, if that had been his last action he would have gone down a hero, now he gets to be a hero and alive to tell the tale, and probably has a few more scars, as if his face wasn't interesting enough.

in other news, disney head ceo bob iger recovering from heart attack, thinking of altering the deal....and pray he doesn't alter it any further..

News is now reporting he heroically avoided the houses at the last moment.

I am a fan of Harrison Ford and am I private pilot as well myself. So not to knock Harrison but ANY pilot would aim for the golf course in that situation if they did not make the mistake of 'trying to go for it" at the runway. He made the smart choice but heroic? He was saving his life with a good choice at that point. Every pilot in training is taught in an engine out situation to go for a field or if lucky a golf course because the manicured fairways offer the best conditions for an off airport landing. I don't think it was the thought of "saving people at the last second" as it was just the best choice for "the safest landing spot to walk away from" decision. As you see, it is no granted safe option due to obstacles and possible soft ground areas but still the best place to go down with an engine out.
When I was a student pilot, my instructor used to joke while setting up practice landings how golfers were spending the same amount as us in the cockpit, just a bit slower. :) Set up many practice engines out landings exercises over golf courses. That and if you practice landing in farm fields, when buzzing the tractors to go perpendicular so they could not read the registration numbers on the plane. lol

Looks like a broken pelvis, broken ankle and head cuts. Going to be down for awhile again with this.
