Removing musty smell from leather?

I got some old leather ammo belts for a possible tusken raider costume, but they have a strong musty smell. Any way for me to get rid of the smell? They make me sneeze when I'm around them.

You must have got yours the same place I got mine :lol ...mine wreak of oldness....I took some scented oil and rubbed it in inconspicuous places along the belt and pouches....didnt actually get rid of the smell,but helped to cover it up

Possibly putting Hydrogen Peroxide in a spray bottle and misting them will kill the mold in them which is causing the smell and of course your allergic reaction.

Depending on what conidtion they're in you could be more harsh in their cleaning as in submerging them in a dishwashing / mild bleach bath.......then re-conditioning them.

'Pecards' is a great way to clean leather and revive old leather items. It cleans the leather and conditions it too, I've used it on older leather belts, ammo pouches etc. and it works great.
