Was recently looking through 007 props and stumbled across the remote mine. Seeing that it was made from an old joystick and some basic electronics I thought I'd give it a go!

I also remembered to take some pictures along the way!

First gut the joystick, drill holes to fit magnets, prime, fill the gaps left from moving the wires, locate and drill holes for leds, cut out small square to mount the switch to, paint, solder electronics, and give it a go.

This is light up only, no sound... for now

Very nice job! I also made one years ago, and I felt bad destroying a functional, but outdated, joystick because the handle was super comfortable to hold. It's a fun prop to have around, even my wife let it be on the fridge for a few months.

Nice! Always good when the wives are on board

Oh man is this a blast from the past! Wicked nice job! I love it

My best friend and I grew up on goldeneye on n64, we used to play with old fuses and pretended they were mines. After seeing how simple these were, had to make one to send him

....AND, if you really want to make it a more complicated build....TRY THIS!!!!View attachment 1885382

Ooooooo, I might need to get another one to do this! Have a side by side. Likely make a more exploded view where the top comes off completely, that'd be a fun winter project. And I'm almost done with my the secret santa gifts so I'll have time! Thank you for sharing this!!!
