AAAAAAAAANNND I'M BACK FOLKS!!! With..... An update!
Wow folks, I'm sorry about leaving the thread untended for so long. Ive been busy and honestly I sort of forgot about it. But anyway, Ive got the rest of the work in progress pictures for you as well as the finished product along with some photos of Angie and I at C2E2.
Anyway down to business. Below you will see the final armor pieces constructed; the shoulders. These were particularly hard to make because all I had to cut them with was a box knife and my mothers hair dryer doesn't shape the foam like a real heat gun does. After several trial and errors, more spelt tea, and a frustrated gurgle here and there I finally got something that I was satisfied with.

Now that I have constructed all of the armor pieces my next objective was the paint. first off I started with a coat of silver, then a coat of purple (the color Angie chose. Not screen accurate but what she wanted). While the paint was still a little wet I rubbed some of the purple away to allow the silver to show through. This way the worn effect looks a little more realistic that painting silver over the purple. Anyway, even though this process looked good, it didn't make the armor look weathered enough, so I ended up painting over with silver anyways. I used a cotton swab to dab the silver on and brush it on in areas where the purple would have logically rubbed away. It worked to my satisfaction but next time I think I will try a Woolite pad or something similar. Any suggestions?

After the initial paint I added the Star on the back plate and hand brushed the 'A' on the chest for Angie. Then I airbrushed some brown, and black onto the armor to give it the grimy look and walla!
Next I had to figure out the belt, pouches and the rest of the 'soft parts'. I went to my local surplus store and picked up some carbine pouches and a first aid pouch that looked accurate enough for the belt. To be screen accurate five pouches are needed. however Angie is little and I cant fit five pouches around her wait so three will have to do.

Now, finding a screen accurate belt was kind of hard. If you look closely you see the snap buckle on the two belts. So I went and picked up a couple belts with the flat silver buckles on them for a couple bucks each. They aren't entirely screen accurate but the look good and serve their purpose. After that I got some elastic straps together' painted them black' and airbrushed them with some brown, added Velcro all over the place and boda bing! boda boom! armor suspension!!

The only issues I had were the thigh plates, and cod plate. I had to punch some holes in the armor and use black shoelaces to tie them to the belt. I think it turned out pretty well in the end.
After that I secured the pouches to the belt and assembled the entire armor suspension into one piece (minus cod, and thighs which had to be attached last when wearing armor). The whole set was comfortable and moved easily. It even folds together to be nice and compact for easy transport!!!

Finally I had to add some head ware to compensate for the helmet being to heavy for Angie. One of my favorite pieces from the game is the pre-war hat. I like the style, and look of the hat mostly because I love old things and I love vintage clothing. combine that with my old fashioned views, love of history, and obsession with reenacting one could say that I was born in the wrong decade. Anyway, this worked out extra well because I have a fedora that I wear on a regular basis to serve as the pre-war hat!

At this point the costume is finished. I could not find a jumpsuit anywhere cheap enough to purchase for the costume so I went and bought Angie a grey t shirt, and a pair of grey trousers. She already had a suitable pair of boots, and once we got it all together she was done!!! Below are the finished product as well as some photos of us when we went to the convention!
The guys in these two pictures are fellow RPF members that I ran into at the convention! Awesome right? Both had great costumes and the vault dweller was one of the only three Fallout costumes there!!! He even payed Angie and I seven bottle caps to take a picture of him and his buddy! I didn't catch there names but if either of you two see this give me a shout out!!!
