Red Hood Detachable Helmet

So I am totally lost as to how to make this helmet function as a detachable helmet rather than a slip on. I tried using a hinge on the top but it separates the top way to much at the close. I want to create a latch or something that can snap onto it. I already designed the helmet and then after printing all the pieces I realized I wanted to add this feature to it but I don't have time to design a unique connection for it, I have been looking for a model that is already made so I can print it and weld them together. Can anyone help? Or point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Had no idea what you where talking.
The bottom of this page has several links to similar threads in the DC Costuming section.

Perhaps you could get a mod to move it for you.

Mind posting some pictures of the helmet? It would be easier to understand what you're struggling with if I could see it

It sounds like you, sara, are looking for a helmet design that would allow you to remove the back of the helmet and take it off that way, rather than just wiggling the whole thing over your head. If that's the case, I recommend something like this:

Dodge_SkiBootBuckles.jpg

It's a ski boot buckle. Pictured part goes on one side of the gap, the teeth on the other. Then you just hook, fold shut, and you're ready to go. If you want something less "neat" you could also try a leather buckle system, but that will take longer to get on and off.

Your other option is neodymium magnets. 2 sets toward the top of the cranium and 2 sets at the bottom corners should hold a back panel in place. Just be careful of getting your hair caught between them.

The problem with any helmets that aren't one piece is that they become more of an annoyance after a while than anything, at least IMO.

Still very intersreted to see to see what you come up with :D

maybe drill or create cavities in the right and left sides of the helmet (invisible from the outside) and place magnets in those cavities so it appears as a one piece helmet and you can pull the two halves apart when your removing it from your head? Just a quick idea.;)
