Recomend a Compressor for Pressure pot?

This will be better. it has a tank so you dont have to wait to long for the pressure to build up.

that compressor is good if you are only painting small things. you would run outta air if you tried to paint a car or somthing big. It is not the psi that matters it is the CFM's

You don't want to use a little airbrush-style compressor to fill a pressure pot-- your resin will set up before the pressure builds up. Get a nice do-it-yourselfer type of compressor with a tank. They are available at Wal-Mart, Sears, Home Depot, and other places. They don't cost a lot and will make your life a lot easier. Unless you live in an apartment with neighbors all around, that is :lol

Important thing to note too if I might add...

You say your pot your looking at is
a 5 GALLON one ? I am going to assume then
you have some large molds you want to put under
pressure for casting ? Here's something to
remember, if you are using a QUICK SETTING
resin { like 2 - 4 minute set up time } I would recommend
you get a compressor with a LARGE tank !

Reason ?

Simple, you DO NOT want a compressor with a piddly little
one gallon tank to QUICKLY fill up at 5 gallon POT ! You need
to remember that it's not JUST the size of the motor on the
compressor { even though a large capacity one HELPS ! }
it's also the size of the TANK !

You put a LARGE mold into a pot you have already
shot say 1- 2 minutes FILLING the mold ! So, give or take
you may have only 1 -2 minutes before it kicks !

You do NOT want a tiny compressor that will take
2- 3 minutes to get UP TO your casting pressure
as your resin will be kicking WHILE your pressuring !!

Not a good thing! :eek

I would look for at LEAST a 5 gallon compressor or
even BETTER a 10 gallon one.. Nice thing about one
with a large tank is once it FILLS it will run allot
less often to keep the pressure up !

In case you have neighbors who hate noise !

:cool

I appreciate the help.

I am going a long mold as apposed to a large mold, and all the pressure pots at harbor freight weren't tall enough for it. The 5 gallon was tall enough and it's Dia seemed to be average size compared to the smaller pots.

I was hoping to not get a quick setting resin, cuz 3-7 minutes is not much time to stir, pour, and pressureize the pot all before it starts to setup without running the risk of error. However I might not have too much of a choice.
While I am on the topic, what resins would be good to use? Ones that have a decent amount of time before it sets, and one that wont take 72hrs before you demold it. I already have Smooth-on and Bare-Metal Foil on my list.

I third the SC-321 from Smooth-On. I currently use it for all my commercial products. It gives you time to work before gelling, demolds in a decent time, and is practically odorless before and after curing. The 321 cures to sort of an amber bone color and there's a similar-performing pure white resin, SC-305. I use 2.5gal pots and fill them from an upright Sears Craftsman 5.5hp compressor with a 25gal tank. That compressor is actually a little overkill for casting, but it's used for all kinds of other household chores, too.

That one from TAP looks like a handy little device, but it only pulls 28+" of mercury. I was under the impression you need to pull at least 29" to successfully evacuate a batch of RTV...
