My normal gig is origami, and I don't think I have ever seen anyone over here talking about wet folding a unicorn. Once you have got the folding down, if you want one with some real structure and permanence you can "wet fold" it using a high GSM watercolor paper.
Buy some Canson Mi-tientes. Before you fold it wet the paper with a damp paper towel just enough to make it pliable like soft leather. It should not drip. Use an xacto to trim you paper square, as it will have expanded. Fold your unicorn, clamp it in some stratigic spots, and put it aside to fully dry. When dry the model will have a very rigid structure. (This also works with most modern money folds)
If you want the silver finish and don't want to paint it, before you start use some 3m spray or brush on some diluted white glue and stick a layer of tin foil on one side.
