Hello there,
don't really know how to proceed fairly for that and respect the rules as well but I found a very nice antique powder flask, not the same that was used in the movie but still very nice. I don't have the money to buy it, it's 480€ and I want to share it in case someone would be interested in buying it. It's from an antique shop in Italy that you would have to contact and all, I cannot promise it's still available or anything, don't be mad at me in any case please! ;)

here is a picture of it.

it's only carved on that side, which is not the good side, but again, it's pretty nice I think.

Maybe try to find it online using that picture or contact me if needed. I just hope I'll not get 50 mails tomorrow morning when I wake up :D
cheers

Well i tried not to post a direct link nor to be unfair to someone but if you feel like posting it then so be it.
I hope it will make someone happy :)

Really nice find and I think your way of offering help buying it was also very generous,
Even more as iirc live auction links are not allowed to be posted!

Love it! Have a real one myself...incorrect details, but prefer this any time over a reproduction!

thanks Markus, your powder flask is in my ref folder ;) It's pretty close to this one. I also prefer this to a repro and I'm pretty sure we will find the exact one some day. There seem to be small series of very close flask, I'm pretty sure it's possible to find a very close one to the screen used one.
cheers :)

ahah no I will not come across a few, it's just that I thing there is probably a few that is from the same batch or sculptor and that someday maybe, I'll find one from that batch. that would already be awesome! :)

Hey Gang! Is the photo RoCKo posted above the original blaster?

Or is it this one at PartsOfStarWars?....
ionblast.jpg

Or is it both?

They seem to have very similar Powder Flasks, but the tubing is mounted in different positions. It's weird how the black and white photo makes that flask look leather wrapped, and the color photo looks like the flask is gilded with brass straps up the sides and across its bottom.

One way or the other, there certainly aren't many photos of Jawa Blasters out there. And Googling around for these flasks is wildly fruitless!

Is the little bit on the right/top side (as in POSW photo) a ball holder? I noticed some flasks have small leather pouches on the side for musket balls. Or do we think it's a greeblie?

I'm pretty sure both photos are the same blaster.
you can see it there in better quality:

the flask is clearly the same, you can match all the small defaults on both pictures.
Also, the photo you posted, seems to be a bit touched up color and contrast wise, giving that cooper gilding color. I think the better quality photo shows more something like a carved horn flask like the ones I showed before.
You can also see that the leather pouch you thought was on the side is just the rings and leather strap with a bad detouring on the parts of starwars website.

the good positioning for the cable is the one from the black and white picture, you can see it in the movie shots:

and here is the nicest shot of the flask I found in the movie:

I hope this helps.
Don't get discouraged, you can find very similar flasks like the ones I provided, I'm sure we can find one really close one day.
cheers

Hey eethan ! Thank you for the photos! That first one...
STAR WARS - JAWA ION BLASTER - 001.jpg

... is fantastic! You can clearly see the tube hole in the bottom of the handle on the Jawa Ion Blaster, and as you mentioned the rings and straps on the side.

I think the wear on the Powder Flask at the bottom looks a bit like leather that has been worn thin rather than wood that has been sanded off.

And we'll have to start a "Brads VS. Screws Debate" on those three half sphere bumps between the upper and middle circlular embossings/carvings. ;) That one on the left is a Phillips Head Screw.

It's also weird how that in the black and white photo...

STAR WARS - JAWA ION BLASTER - 002.jpeg

... the handle is so much darker looking and almost appears to have the same crackle paint/ray skin texture as the Grenade Launcher tip on the front of the blaster.

That "GAWAS ZAPPER" label still cracks me up. :)

I'm not sure either about the darker handle on the black and white picture. Clearly the one on the color picture is a newer handle that was replaced at some point. i don't know if it came that way or if we are looking at the same gun with the old handle and then the new handle. It seems unlickly though.
the crackle paint/ray texture you are mentioning is knurling in the metal of the grenade launcher, it's not paint. Sorry if you already know that but wanted to make sure. :)

Hey OdiWan72, sorry to summon you but since I bought my enfield from you, I'm not sure about the hole for the cable in the Enfield handle, is the hole an original one from the rifle or is this something that needs to be added?
thanks a lot (y)

Yes and no, HA! And thank you again! I only found out a few seconds after making my last post while Googling around a bit for more photos. There's an Instructables out there that mentions the knurling.

The timeline of that grainy black and white photo vs. the on screen shots would be interesting to know, because all of the screen shots you posted clearly show the lighter handle color.

Some days Star Wars props research just makes you want to scream "UTINNI!"

Added later...not part of the Enfield (just the hole in the rear end of the grip, where the screw for attachment is inserted)

Wanted to add my recent find to the thread. Actually happened by accident as I was recently salvaging my fathers heritage. I found this in a box with other powder flasks not knowing anything about. A few days later I was cycling through ILM reference fotos on my drive and accidentally spotted that this particular thingy matched up with what I had in my hands recently pretty well. Of course the RPF was the next stop. So here it is. And the best part... it is actually made from real Bantha horn! This is a small piece of handcrafted art in wonderful shape. I am not planning to build up a jawa blaster soon and I don't have a clue what these parts go for... so this might go to the junkyard in hope to find a new home. Antiques dealers may get shivers but I think it won't get hurt in any way when on display with a rubber hose plugged into the nose. Heavy image load ahead to enjoy.
