Raiders guns and other pix from Rinzler's Making of Indy book

I got an advance galley for J.W. Rinzler's upcoming The Complete Making of Indiana Jones, which has this pic of Indy's two Raiders pistols. I'm far from an expert, but I thought the front sight on the Smith was different. More of a round blade. Could there have been another revolver? Any guesses?

Re: Raiders guns pic from Rinzler Making of book

Thanks for posting!!! There were two S&W's in the film. One had the ramped sight and the other a trimmed and re-soldered front blade sight.

This also marks the very first time the public has seen Indys Browning up close. Thanks Probe Droid!

Thanks for clearing that up. Nice to know I'm not crazy and there was another Smith.

something that might be interesting to folks...
I was just reading in a recent gun magazine that Smith and Wesson are starting a "Classics" line and bringing back some of the old models... the handejector is one of them!
so if anyone wants a REAL indy revolver, sic um!

The top revolver looks like a Smith and Wesson M-15 Combat Masterpiece cal.38 special. The Hipower looks like a post WW 2 model.

Raiders of the Lost "Arc"?

What next, "Indiana Jones and the Revenge of the Line Segments"?

But they're bringin' back the model 27, so, in unrelated news a replica Payback .357 will now be readily available. Minus the molded grips, of course.

Yeah, I was pretty sure he had a model 27 in that movie. The one that he bought from the pawn shop at the start, that had the contoured grips. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, sorry to get OT.

You can still find the old smith & wessons at gun shows. Some in better condition than others.

Well you convinced me I needed this book mate. Just purchased the signed by author over at the Indy store. May 1 they ship. For under $30 for a signed copy that's awesome! Jump on it folks:)

Finished the book this morning and it's quite good. Very detailed. There are tons of good pix, but, alas, unlike the Making of Star Wars , there are very few prop pix. That gun pic I posted above is about it. Ther are thumbnail size pix of the props at the beginning of each chapter, but they're tiny.

If you were going to preorder this for prop pix you may want to look at it in a book store first before plunking down your $.
