Radica Tank Assault Game

Unpacking from my recent move I found the Radica Tank Assault Game.

Isn't this the basis for something?

Star Wars trooper binoculars or something?

Or did I dream it?

Not the basis. Thats a simrad laser range finder.

This is a cheap, albeit small, substitute for the trooper binocs.

Yup, popular choice for custom binocs for trooping...

...and used as a basis for high-tech binocs in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

I personally have started construction of some Hoth binoculars using a product from a well-known Swedish brand.... :)

This is my basis:

A little work and lots of greeblies and it will come out ine I think. At least it's got the perfect dimensions...

Although it's generally used as a cheap alternative for the Hoth binoculars, someone on this forum years ago posted a picture of it actually being used as a prop in another movie... If my memory servers me correctly the screen grab was on a boat/ship no idea about the movie...

I have two new in box ones from the JC Penny reissue several years ago...

I wanted to turn one of those into the starwars binoculars at one time a few years ago but Nic wouldn't let Me.

I saw this thread this morning, and found one of these at Goodwill this afternoon for $2 so I picked it up. I love finding things like that (I am easy to please) I don't know I would have noticed it if not for just reading this thread. Now I just have to figure out how to convert it...

I put a photo of a walker inside mine and lit it with leds. For the "lens" I used a sprinkler head from a pop up in ground yard sprinkler and a piece of glass and put 5 red leds behind it wired to blink. Runs off the 2 aa cells the game used.

Here's how mine ended up. I bought them semi modified from someone on RPF, then did a little more work on it myself. Pretty happy with the results, and it was a low cost prop.
