Since there not much chance of me making a full sized R2 unit , does anyone make just the pop up sensor scope ? I always wanted to make a submerged R2 with the scope popping out of the swamp water from Empire. Just a table top diorama . Something I'm looking at doing a bit along.

they sure do! neat idea too BTW.

xeno makes a resin one for the R2 builders at about $75 plus shipping

I have a cnc plastic and aluminum kit I need to dig out that I'm not going to use either.

the periscope would be a cool display, you could also get an inexpensive styrene dome then and display that...then get a body...then some legs.......... :love

That would be cool. Then claim your R2 is the most accurate ever. Oh he's underwater so you can't see all the details, but it looks great. :lol

That would be a cool display. Check out the "Magic Water" material from this outfit: http://www.unrealdetails.com/

This is a great idea! It would be fantastic to have a scope popping up through the surface of a pond in the garden. Hmmm, I might have to go and dig a pond...

Yeah i use to do Taxidermy and used similar things for fish. I want to do the R2D2 and of course the DS star trash monster. Just trying to get many images of both.
I think weird stuff like that , Like having a sarlacc pit painted on a floor very large in the center of a collector room..hummm

What if you made it as a desk top? You could use the sensorscope as a desklamp.

sorry for the derail...back on topic.

I love the idea of this, would be a neat little desk lamp or lighting on the prop shelf. would be kinda of cool to have a garbage monster too right next to it and have a periscope-ey kinda theme going :lol

how about finding a plate or a bowl that could simulate the top part of the dome and the pie panels. It would be a cool base for it.

this would also make a cool fishtank feature...lolz

Neil, you HAVE to finish your periscope! Don't let those parts get away from you.

Someday I'll put together my plastic periscope body and work out something for the supports, light kit, and lift mechanism.

The idea of an R2 periscope in an outdoor pond is just classic! One that could be surreptitiously placed in a public fountain would be funny, too.

There are kits out there, both styrene and resin for this very part, available from folks on the R2 building sites,my dome is aluminum, but this part will be styrene or resin in my little buddy. I believe there are also plans for making the part from styrene as well on the yahoo group.

That's an awesome idea! If you could get it to randomly pop up it would be very cool. Also it wouldn't be too geeky because only SW fans would know what it was.
