Quills and attaching them

Hey Guys
I've got myself some Fimo modeling material (seems to be the only thing i could find) to make some quills. Now once i have them made and baked etc. Whats the best way to attach them..simple super glue? The reason im asking is cause the mask is already painted and ive never glued onto latex (plus im warey bout damaging the paint)
