So I picked up a couple cold cast quad blasters from member MrGreene. (Thanks again!)

I figured I'd go ahead and do a build thread for anyone interested in painting up a pair of their own.

All the pieces came packaged very well!

After a bit of dremel work I loosely placed all the pieces together.

I wanted the grip to have the carbon fiber look and I've never done hydro dip before, so I decided to just go with this vinyl:

I cut out a sheet, placed the grip on top then made a few cuts around it and wrapped using a heat gun. The heat gun is key here!

Here is one side done:

And, both sides:

I tried to keep the vinyl in as few pieces as possible. I think I used 3 pieces per grip. There were still a couple gaps, so I filled those in with black paint. You can hardly notice:

After some reassembly:

More soon . . .

Excellent work so far! How did you clear out the little vent slots on the upper and lower pieces? I am trying to do that with my Dremel and considering the aesthetic consequences, I'm considering mounting them on the mill. Yours look great.

Freaking awesome job on the vinyl wrap soulinertia. I looked at all the angles on mine and thought It would be Impossible to make It look that good with vinyl..

Just drilled em by hand and cleaned up with an x-acto.

The heat gun really allows you to stretch and form the vinyl. It was unexpectedly easy to do. I ordered from 2 different suppliers, one in china and one in the US. They are both a little different. I'll post some close up pics of the differences in a bit.

Thanks man...

Here is a close up of the vinyl texture:

And here is the difference in scale of the two. I prefer the larger.

I'm waiting on my Mrgreene Blasters too. I never did the hydrodipping as well so I'm going to order a sheet of vinyl and try the same as you did :) Awesome thread!

Haven't had any time to make further progress on these. I've been concentrating on getting everyone else's star lord orders fabricated and shipped, but I'll return to them soon I hope!
