I just noticed these in my Qui-Gon saber folder:

So what's the deal? Is the front of the emitter really copper? Has everyone who's made a replica gotten it wrong??

On a side note, does anyone have a spare resin or metal emitter top they wanna get rid of? (It doesn't matter if it's copper or not :) and I don't need the entire emitter, just the top; the silver (and apparently) copper part)

You sure about that? I have steel washers older than Episode I that are just as bright and silver the day I got them.

Steel washers can be made from raw steel, stainless steel or treated in some other way to not rust.
Coroded copper would be darker, and likely to have green spots.

Ooh, I remember those pics! :lol The emitter disc was definitely rusty, so steel is the most likely material. It was also almost completely flush with the rest of the emitter, unlike Obi-wans saber, and unlike almost every replica made.

There might be a couple of fan made replicas out there along with the MR, that got the emitter almost right. I don't remember if they just put grooves in the emitter though, rather than making a separate piece.

Stormpath is the only one that I am aware of that ever reproduced this exact look. Here was his take on the weathered Qui gon saber.

These pics belong to him, so I'll gladly pull them off if requested to.

I'd imagine they'd have to be seperate pieces or the rest of the emitter top would be rusty too.

Well MR just put grooves in an all aluminum piece, rather than making a steel cap that push fit into an aluminum part. That's what I meant. :)

My Obi-wan was stainless, because not many people want rust on their replicas. SS at least gave a darker colour to the plate.

Lesternessman, I thought Stormpath might have done it, but I don't remember ever seeing those pics. Cool stuff, though I'd still go with a SS top.
