QMx Secures Complete Star Trek License for Collectible Lines

Hey Talyn,

Sadly, the ZAT is on hold due to the state of the Stargate fan interest. While we know and love that diehards exist, Stargate's been a bit slow all the way around and we'd need to know we have a certain amount of interest to be able to finance the cost of the run.

So, while we'd love to make it, we can't do it currently. If that changes and fan interest revs up again, we'll reassess for sure. ;-)

That's very sad to hear about the ZAT. If I may, I have a few ideas on how you might be able to rev up fan interest again.

Have you thought of opening a ZAT mailing list, for those who would like to preorder, (I believe you've done so before with other high priced items) so you'll have an idea of preorder numbers. Or maybe you can just open a preorder with a 12 month waiting list or however long you'd need.

Something else you might consider is letting the Stargate fan base know that you want to make the ZAT, but that you need a good number of people willing to preorder to do so. You could do this by posting info on the QMX website, facebook page and also Stargate news sites, like GateWorld.

I'm sure that you'd get the numbers you need, as many Stargate fans, not just diehards would love to own a working ZAT Gun.

One other thing you might consider is having Signed Editions, like you did with the BSG Viper Mark II Artisan Replica, as I'm sure many fans would jump at the chance of having a Signed Edition ZAT.

That's odd.

We've shipped many of each ship, and pre-orders were halted due to how many sold. Basically, we swamped the artisans. More are shipping every week.

I'm not sure how word is out that nothing's shipped. That's simply not the case.

If that is the case then I am sorry. What strikes me as odd is there is not one owner that I can find on the net posting pictures, writing reviews or down right bragging about this mega purchse! :confused

Or McCoy, Crusher, EMH and Bashir bobbleheads ... holding hyposprays :lol

C'mon QMx, you'd have a winner with these.

$10,000 for a lousy 29" model. I guess some people have too much money. I normally would say, "What kind of an idiot would pay for that?" but I know someone will.

A bunch of guys on this board could make a bigger and better one for 1/3 the price so hire them and give the rest to charity you stupid, dumb, rich idiots.

QMX makes me puke, I liked them until now (Was trying to overlook the ridiculous price they wanted to build the Polar Lights Enterprise that they still try to avoid saying is what it is) We have a guy here who worked on Star Trek and will deck it out for $3,000.

As my Emotionally Disturbed Special Education students say, "Suck it QMX!!" Oh yeah and you just lost a sale on the BDR Serenity Model. Was going to do it and now hell no!! I'll get a bigger and better one built here.

Wow, that's somewhat harsh. While I wouldn't spend $10 thousand on a model, I've certainly spent lots of cash on other items that many folks would consider little better than toys. This aint a cheap hobby. Not sure why all the hostility.

I;m lookig forward to the Trek line, hope they do something with the license other than bobbleheads and posters. We'll see though. In the end I'll buy or not buy depending on the final price and the coolness of the item.

Maybe it is harsh, but well deserved. They need to be called out on this. I've spent plenty as well. I got my MR Falcon and so on. $2,500 to $3,000 for a professionally built Studio Scale quality model is a fair price with all the hours and skill that go into something like this, but QMX is B.S.

I avoid board drama and have no interest in arguing. I really just want to learn about, sell, build, and buy props and costumes but this is just not something I am going to be silent about or back off of.

I'll die on this mountain.

I'm going all Funky Jedi on this bull. :angry :thumbsup :angry

It is quite ridiculous though. Also funny that the 2 other Enterprises priced at $5,000 are 'Not For Sale'. I actually started laughing.

Oh I agree, but it's par for the course with them.

I mean look at what they did with the Polar model! :lol

built to the exact specifications and dimensions of the studio miniature that was used to film many of TNG's scenes.

measures 29.5 inches long

There was a simple two foot model, an ugly four foot model, and a beautiful six foot model. They never had a two and a half foot model.

Also, if you're reading this QMX, I know how to use a camera, I know how to light a model, and I know how to turn off auto-focus. And as long as no one brings up Prometheus, I'm in good standing with everyone here. :)

I was interested in the TNG communicator badge replica they were going to make, but looks like they made it all chromed out. Looks really bizarre to me. I like that they tried to make some kind of idealized version, but the shininess makes it just too different. Maybe if it was satin/matte finish metal. But I'm really happy with the ones I already got from xscapesprops.com

Yeah, I appreciate their efforts, but if it doesn't look right, I don't see the point. Now if they had created a painted metal version, that would be cool, but I'd be happy with painted resin from the original molds (which is supposedly what these are made from).

Agreed. Idealized comm pins have been available for years. Honestly, I don't see what's that differrent about this item. Now making something that actually looks like the screen used prop, that would have been new. Let's hope the line continues with more acurate replicas in the future.

Totally agree. I have two tng communicators I bought from xscapesprops, apparently the same ones that roddenberry.com carries, as I was told by them. They're cast from production pieces and finished in similar ways. Nice stuff. I was really hoping to diversify my collection with Qmx's interpretation. It's weird because a few months back they were showing off a photo of their more screen accurate prototype, which looked basically identical to the original, only to reveal this oddity months later.
