Re: the metal Mal pistol

Yeah...that's gonna happen. I seem to remember going down this road a few years ago....oh wait....I preordered and prepaid.....oh yeah....it was vaporware and I got my money back.

That would be because of the death of Sidero.
Hopefully whomever they tap to do the next Mal pistol has more longevity.

Yeah. All the same, I'll be waiting until others have theirs in hand before I place my order. Fool me once and all that...

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited that there is the possibility of more props from the Verse. It's just that aside from printed materials and original materials like the maquettes, QMX's track record aint all that great. The stuff they do make is fantastic. I just hope we don't have to wait years to see stuff.

I wish someone would come out with a complete set of rank pins from BSG. I missed out on several from MJF. (referring to picture above)

I'm not really sure what I would want from firefly that I don't already have from Serenity. :unsure

Why not some of the other weapons props? A Jayne gun, Zoe gun, etc...

A Jayne gun would be nice but honestly, Zoe's guns were nothing more than lightly modified, readily available, old west guns. I'd rather grab and mod a Denix myself than pay someone else to do it.

Whitefall's Tallcard set definitely sounds good though. That's one paper prop I've been dying to get my grubby paws on.

Part way down on the discussed list of projects from the Firefly/Serenity Con:
There was also chatter about them producing a Boo, a Mare's Leg, possibly Vera and more maquettes.

Of these, Boo (Jayne's modified LeMat) is the only one I think might be commercially viable.

Vera's size and complexity are at least in the ballpark of the BDR Serenity model.
I'm not sure a $2000-plus dollar resin rifle would sell.
In metal, I shudder to even estimate the cost.

The most economical approach to duplicating Zoe's Mare's Leg would be to modify Denix Mare's Legs to Firefly appearence specs.
This would require a new wood stock and buttplate, new sights, a saddle ring and a "blued" finish.

QMx should definitely do a resin Firefly version of the Mal pistol.
Not for me, but for the Browncoats for whom the $160 price tag represents the top of their budgets.

Of the non-weapons prop possibilities,
I'd still like to get one of Whitefall's Telofonix cards.
