Putting together ideas for a realistic Iron spider Costume

I have always loved the Iron spider costume but not the basic printed body suits of it. Also no one has really seemed to capture the lenses as they should be. As far as the "waldoes" or legs I've only seen one person do this but they did it using a material that was filled with stuffing almost like a pillow. I want mine to have that sharp metallic look. I also want the lenses to be able to be pushed away from the eyes and back in place either manually or by using some remote system similar to how an iron man mask closes using electronics. I would also love to have some of the lighting on the costume like in this picture as well. I am developing some ideas but would love any creative input to get this rolling. I plan on starting with a base body suit dye subed to try to give it a metallic electronic look. I plan on making all the armor and attaching it to the body suit using magnets but haven't decided on how to make the armor yet. I plan on having this completed for next years NYC Comic Con Oct 10-13.

Yeah thanks I'm pretty motivated for the project and will be finishing school soon, so I'll be making more money and will be able to afford messing around with a few ideas.

Well I bought a couple of things to start the legs today. Some flex tubing that I am going to run wire through so once I bend the tubing it will retain the bend. After shaping the legs I will then attach cardboard and duct tape at certain points to give the legs the jagged look they need.

I am also working on a hinge system for the lenses in order to be able to push them off to the side.

Does anybody have any ideas of what this guy may have used for his waldoes and how he may have attached it to his back?

I'd be afraid I'd be knocking over things all the time with those arms :lol
I know I will in bigger costumes, but this would just feel weird. Looks cool though.

At first I thought you meant the iron spider from the television series.

I think I might go in a different direction and use pvc pipe or pex pipe with a little spray foam unless anyone else has any other ideas...

Well i can promise you thats cut and painted pvc pipe as to how he attached
it i'm thinking probably some kind of under suit harness and then through the back of the suit be about the only way i would think good luck

Sorry man but that's not the Iron Spider that is Octo-Spidey. Good picture of all the different versions of SpiderMan though.

I was wanting to attempt this as well but have way too much projects and work has swamped me.

My idea was to use a cross type body harness to hold the waldoes in place mid back. The sub-dye would have to be modified to allow it.

As for pvc...it may get too heavy and actually sag. Great costume if you can figure out how to make nice and sharp details but lots of details to work out.

So I found something I think should work. I'm using aluminum coil and pvc joints for the curves in the legs. The aluminum coil is durable and light-weight and is not easy to bend, so it shouldn't sag. I am using an electrical cover as part of the base for all the legs to connect to. I just have to work out all the little specifics for the details of the legs.

This is just a rough example of how the coil can be rolled and then of course I will rivet it where I want it.
