PropShop announces TFA Props!

That's what they get for trying to rape the pockets of collectors. I'm happy to see them gone!

Wow, looks we will have to get refunds from our credit cards. Everyone get on it quickly.

I would file your claim and that may force them to produce the product faster.

Hard to believe a company that charges as much for the box as a nice prop went under. Where did they go wrong???????

Honestly I was surprised anyone bought anything from them given the cost and question of the quality, durability, etc..

The box was insane, expensive. The ones who bought the props even said the stands were not great. No custom cut nice foam but hard Styrofoam and insane price on a prop they are not sure will last forever.

I am glad those who purchased are happy with them but this company tanking was a foregone conclusion.

Guys like you just know it all huh.

I called their customer support yesterday and they gave the standard "website issue" response. Called them today and told them I heard about the closure and they said they're still getting more details on their end (since the call center is separate from propshop) and will reach out to customers regarding what will happen next (most likely refunds)

Wow. What happened? I'm contacting my credit card company now and making claims. It does not sound like they are going to come through with the products.

I am on the phone with them now and my credit card company. Will update with news ASAP.

I called them too. They gave me the response that my preorder was secure and if they hear any news they'll update all their customers accordingly. I'm hoping they'll at least finish the preorders that were placed.
The agent I spoke to said that in the event that the preorders can't be filled, they WILL refund all their customers. So not to worry about that.

So much for saving up to maybe one day get the Kylo helmet. We're talking “save for a year and maybe get one,“ so never a solid plan. :lol

Ok, the Prop Shop website customer service center has not received any information about the closing of the Prop Shop directly. As far as they know, they are still in business and will complete the outstanding orders within the 16 weeks deadlines. I would classify the closing of the Prop Shop as a rumor for now unless someone else has better information. I have reached out directly to James Enright, the Prop Shop president, and Karen Gill but have not received a reply.

My credit card company said I have 120 days from the date of my orders to dispute the charges so I am scheduled to call back on October 30 if I do not hear directly from the Prop Shop regarding a shipment date and will get a full refund on my orders. I recommend everyone reach out to your credit card company and put them on notice so they know that they may be on the hook for some large refund amounts if the Prop Shop does not deliver on the goods. Sad day for collectors.

So I wonder if they lost their contract for making props for the movies? Maybe the "blue" Kylo Ren saber was a sign of things to come...lol

i wonder what the deal is... judging by this site there was a pretty decent amount of people buying products... i think the pricey alone didnt kill them but the crazy shipping and customs fee's. their 1200 saber would have cost me close to 1600 to get it delivered here.

even though i would have struggled to afford that, i am now wishing i did... i bet these props have just doubled in value

Well it looks like only the Darth Vader Melted Helmet and the Kylo Ren Lighst Saber got into the hands of some collectors. I know Adam Savage got a Kylo Ren Helmet to review but I am not sure anyone else got one who ordered it. From the videos, it seemed that they were making a several Rey sabers to be shipped out next. Only time will tell.

If they did it stop manufacturing, I doubt it was because they lost the license. It was probably a cost/benefit issue because we are paying in dollars but the employees get paid in pounds. Im sure once we do the math, they were too expensive to create due to the manual labor that went into making them. If it was due to lack of demand due to pricing, it makes no sense why they wouldn't offer a discount as a last resort before shutting the doors.

I did see one video of the Rey saber going to an owner. I believe the only ones that got out are the melted vader, Kylo saber, Rey saber, and a few Finn helmets. Never saw the bowcaster, Poe, or Rey staff though (aside from the promotional ones they sent out)
