Props for a Jurassic Park themed birthday

When you bring the food out wait for a kid to reach over and grab it and then say "ah ah ah you didn't say the magic word". Lol.

This may sound a bit ridiculous but bear with me here, have you thought about repainting some nerf guns and making them dinosaur tranqualizers. I know there is no way that they would be screen accurate but it might be fun. Maybe even consider going to one of those stores with the giant printers and ask them to pint out a couple images from google. Often when doing things like this they seem very happy to oblige if you tell them what it is for, they might even give you a discount. Just stick the print outs to your fence or to pieces of cardboard and you have yourself a hunt. For bonus points you can stick one of the dinos to a leftover RC car your kid might have laying around and make it run across the yard, charge at them, etc.

Doesn't sound ridiculous at all! Love that idea and I have a large format printer... :D

Tonnes of great ideas here guys! Thank you!

Stick the signs from the park in certain areas. Like the different paddocks. Also, take the one for the bathroom and stick it on the bathroom door.

You can try putting dinosaur scratch marks on the walls and foot prints on the floor.

If there's a room that isn't being used that's near the party area, you can make it look like a dinosaur has destroyed it. Turn the lights off in the room. Put some potted plants around and especially near the doorway. Set up an obscured strobe light in the corner to simulate electricity and make things a little dynamic. Have some raptor sounds playing on a stereo. Get some thin pool noodles (my local dollar store has them on discount) and paint them gray, tape them across the doorway but have a few "chewed through" and bent like the bars on the raptor cage (use some wire to make them hold their bent shape). Maybe put up some yellow streamers or caution tape, make a sign that says, "DANGER Dino Escape Area" or something kinda hokey that lays it out for the kids. Make the room off limits to them so it's cool but kind of scarey.

You could give the food funny names. Like "Dilophosaurus Spit Chocolate Pudding" labeled with the JP font. Then remove the labels from bottles of mountain dew, maybe put some duct tape on it with "you don't wanna know" written in sharpie. Or Dharma-fy the drinks with InGen logos over the regular logos. "Diet InGen Cola"

Get one of these toy robot arms and some "Dino Eggs" and make up a game where you move the eggs from one place to another

This has some good ideas and pics:

Sarah Smiles: Dane's Jurassic Park Party!!!!!!

Can't remember the name of them, but I got my son, Kal-El, a Dinosaur Egg from a Reject Shop type of thing, which was made of hard sand.. You get a little wooden hammer and chisel, and chip away, until you find a plastic dinosaur in the middle.. If you can't find them where you are, you could try this:

Dinosaur Treasure Eggs: Crafts for Kids. Lessons and Activities for children in kindergarten to grade 12: KinderArt ®

Or depending on when you need them, I could get you a heap from here, think they were about AUS$3..

Decorations: Place a "Jurassic Park" logo on your front door to recreate the large entrance doors seen in the first film.. Add some faux jungle leaves and random dinosaur toys around the main party room..

"Jurassic Park" Soundtrack: Create atmosphere at the party with the official "Jurassic Park" soundtrack composed by John Williams.. The soundtrack features 16 non-lyrical songs that capture the excitement and themes from the film..

Pin the Tail on the Dinosaur: Instead of running from dinosaurs, blind fold children and have them try to pin the tail back on.. Choose spiky tailed dinosaurs like a Stegosaurus or long-tailed dinosaurs like a Apatosaurus..

"Jurassic Park" Board Games: Form teams and play one of the three official "Jurassic Park" board games.. In each of the games players choose either dinosaurs and humans and race through game boards.. The "lost World" edition is the most involved with 3D buildings, rescue missions, and a fun back forth between teams..

"Jurassic Park" Bingo: Instead of simply watching the "Jurassic Park" films, turn it into an interactive bingo game.. Create 10 to 20 cards featuring a 5 by 5 grid.. In random grid spots write out common things you would find in the movies..

For example, "A dinosaur roars", "Someone says Jurassic Park", "Someone screams", "A person is eaten" and so on.. The first person to get a line calls bingo, the movie is paused, and the winner is declared. Award small dinosaur figures for winners of each game and then continue the movie..

Dinosaur Pinata: Bash away a dangerous dinosaur like a T-rex or Raptor pinata.. The classic party tradition will keep kids involved and they will love diving for the candy that escapes the pinata..

Dinosaur Fossil Kits: Have children act Dr. Grant and other characters from "Jurassic Park" with dinosaur fossil kits.. These small kits can be purchased for a low as a dollar and allow children to slowly pick away at dirt and reveal a mystery dinosaur fossil..

Extra Touches: Keep the "Jurassic Park" theme with extra party touches.. Recreate the "bathroom" scene by placing a T-Rex toy in your bathroom.. Hang up movie posters around the house.. Hand out "Jurassic Park" goodie bags filled with dinosaur party favors and official merchandise..
