Prop Replicas you didn't know you had (sometimes until too late)

PHArchivist- I agree with the points you've made when it comes to the sequels (and even more so with the prop). I thought "Psycho IV" was okay (honestly, since Anthony Perkins died before "Psycho V" could be done, I kinda wish the fourth film would have ended on a lighter note). As for everyday items, I can't say I know if there is one, but I'm sure one could be started.

thegreatgallina- You're very much welcome. I not only have had the "prop replica brain", but the "filmmaking brain" too, since I'm currently attending Full Sail University.

what kind of knife was it that Bond used in QoC?
It's a CRKT Sting; he hands it over in the hotel.

i have a bunch of advair containers left from my wife (she has asthma) and apparently theyre used for some gun on Andromeda.

Growing up, I always used this one tupperware cup, because at the time, it held alot of fluid, and being a kid, I wanted more soda/juice/milk whatever. While watching SW ANH (Luke at the table with Owen and Beru) I thought, wow, that looks like my tupperware cup.... Years later I find out that they used the same type of tupperware cup for Star Wars. I still have it, though it is in storage. Kinda neat cause I can't find that cup anywhere!

I had the Nike shoes that Kyle Reese wore in Terminator. They were black with the silver velcro strap.

I threw them away in 1991 because they didn't fit anymore.

FB

those were Nike "Vandals"
they come up on ebay occasionally, but are quite costly. Be careful, because Nike continued to make them in leather. you want the Canvas ones.
I had a pair of red ones myself, been looking for a replacement pair. They look just like this;

Unfortunately, I'm a size 8.

I have 4 of them
It's a Tupperware "sweet-saver"

They also make a version with a pump in it (for mustard & ketchup)

I've got a set of six Tsing Tau(sp?) shot glasses, as seen in Bladerunner:

Bought them as part of this retro/kitsh shot dispenser:

Didn't realise 'til months later!

LOL. I knew someone would wonder about it. Here's the screencap from the movie of the radio, same model and make I used to have:

PsychoIVRadio1.jpg

The funny thing is that in the movie, Norman turns the radio on and off using the knob on the far left. The two knobs on the left were the Bass and Treble. To turn the actual radio on, there was a switch you slide left and right to select your option (you can actually spot it in the picture in between the knob and the first button for the tape player). If you wanted to listen to the radio, you had to slide it to where the notch was under radio. To listen to tape, you'd slide it to where it was listed for tape. To turn it off, you'd have to slide it all the way to the left.

When it began to fall apart, the first thing that broke was the tape deck, the plastic piece in the front that held the tape as it played.

I can't believe I still remember the controls after so many years. :p

Ha Ha Ha. I have that same radio in my shop right now and had no idea that it was so famous.:lol Sorry. I just went out to my shop to take a pic of it but when I got out there I forgot that I threw it away and have a different radio. I forgot that I cut out the speaker screens and used them in the grill and behind the lenses of my Vader.

My sister had the Gilligan's Island radio during the Original Run. I begged her to give it to me, but she just laughed. Darn her hide!

Hi there,

My mom is still using the same Tupperware containers which you can find in Aunt Beru's kitchen in ANH :lol

This pen of mine was used in Silence Of The Lambs when Lecter is caged while in transport. Starling signs in to see him.

Only difference is mine is logo'd with UC Irvine; though you can't see on film, hers is likely logo'd for the FBI, or blank. But same model pen and same exact color.

I have that razor that someone pointed out was used as the basis for a comlink in Phantom Menace. One of these days, I'm going to make a resin cast of it and add all the little doodads they stuck on it.

My childhood prop took me on a 20 year quest to reclaim!

When I was a kid my grandmother bought me this really ugly record player that looked like it was covered with denim material. I remember playing Scooby Doo records on it.

A few years later I saw E.T. and realized it was the exact same make and model. I spent probably 20 years just trying to figure out what the make of the record player was. It wasn't until about 7-8 years ago that I tracked down an original E.T. Communicator to document for my replica I'm building.

I've since located 3 of them. One I own now, and the other two I bought and gave to prop friends.

I can't post the pic from work, but here is a webpage I've created about the communicator.

I've pretty well got every part to build it now except for the exact right Martinson Coffee can.

Cool story, Gregg! Awesome prop!

I had a special bottle that had two tubes. The outer tube held water and the inter tube held powder (like fake juices). It didn't work all that well, but it look cool and futuristic. Years later I was watching an episode of Star Trek Voyager and I noticed they made a "containment canister" prop out of it. All they did was add lights to the inter tube to make it glow. I guess whatever works, right? :lol

This thing.

I remember having one of those as well, i never got to use it, i think my nephew took off with it. I do know that you were supposed to fill the inner part with tang (or equivalent) and the outer with water and it mixed with a twist or something.

One of those Microtorches in Star wars. My dad had one and i use to play with it all the time not knowing it was in one of my favorite movies. I ended up finding it in a box a couple years ago and now it sits here on a shelf.
