Prop Replicas you didn't know you had (sometimes until too late)

When I was a kid I had a leather and green silk coat like Sly's son wore (and had stolen) in Rocky V...

given that it was from V, don't really care that I no longer have it, ha.

Take that back, I was over at my parents last week, digging in one of the closets they don't use much looking for something and came across it, haha.

my dad had the same remote control for his vcr that they used in terminator 2, while in the asylum with sara connor, i remember thinking that was cool as hell while watching it on video when i was a kid. he also has the same Wurlitzer jukebox thats seen in v for vendetta

When I was in college in the early 90s I was watching an episode of Star Trek: TNG and there was a prop that was supposed to be a small alien bug containment device or something) that looked like a grey, hard-plastic ribbed binder. He flipped the top open almost like a modern laptop. It looked like a futuristic Trapper Keeper. I kept looking at it thinking "that looks familiar". That's because it WAS a futuristic binder that I had in the next room. I went to get it to impress my roommates, but the episode went off. Years later, I've tried to either track down the binder or find a screen grab from the episode, but have failed in both accounts.

*EDIT* HA!!! Flickr saves the day!!! Here it is, a Nintendo Power Binder:

Which is now going for ludacris money on eBay:

First, that's an active listing, not supposed to post those.

Second, they can usually be had for about $30-40 if you look around.

Also it's a "Worlds of Wonder, Class Act Stuff It" binder, just a Nintendo branded version.

I had the walkie-talkies from BTTF. I got rid of them at a garage sale (after having forgotten I had realized they were from BTTF).

On a brighter note, I also realized I had a dry-line whiteout dispenser used in SG-1 as an Asgard device, and my phone was used in Panic Room.

Edit: Just found out my hearing protectors were used in the original BSG. Thanks Montagar!

I actually had/have walkies that are 90% the same as the ones in the movie. Only difference being the antennas. Mine have thick, flexible plastic covered ones, rather than the collapsible ones.

Another thing I can't believe I remember. When I was little, I remember watching one of Weird Al's music videos (though I can't think of which song). I freaked out when he started dancing around, holding the same alarm clock as mine.

My first two experiences were WAY before I was into prop collecting. I had a Powerbook Duo 280c and Apple Newton and saw them on the big screen in the movie Hackers. A couple years later, I had a similar experience seeing my Powerbook 3400 in the movie "You've Got Mail". (Now days I still look, but it's far less exciting...)

More recently, in Season 4 of Burn Notice they used the same thumb drive I bought. They used it to store a coded NOC list, I used it to bring work home - never-the-less, it still felt cool to use after that.

My parents had exactly the same electro knife as seen in The Evil Dead (Remake).

I asked if I can have it, but sadly it was broken and already gone...

I knew I had the knife that Buffy gutted Faith with...

I didn't know I had a Star Trek prop....

I still don't know if this knife was in the movie... (is it?!)

Thanks!

I like Star Trek, but wasn't a big enough fan to check out Nemesis... so was alway curious.

However, I did just find out through a red letter media vid, that they guy holding that knife is Tom Hardy.

Tom Hardy rules. So now that knife went from a cool little Buffy prop, to bad ass Buffy/Hardy knife.

And suddenly my wife is into one of my props...:behave

Yes, the same knife was used by Shinzon in the fight between him and Picard at the end and I think you can see it a couple more times before that as well. :cool

Was clearing toys out of my son's room (he's getting older now), and was going to dump his Roboraptor...

That is, until I realized the toy is seen in the room of the character Leech in X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

I also had the plastic cup Luke drinks his blue milk from. Pretty sure I must have made up some blue milk to drink out of it once upon a time. I've torn my parents house apart looking for it, but no joy. :(

I was watching The Big Lebowski for maybe the 20th time when I noticed something....
rug.jpg
It is one of my favorite films, yet I never paid much attention to the rug's design. That's when I totally freaked out.
My mother used to have this exact rug in our living room! I can vividly remember playing with my toys on it as a small child; spending so much time on it that the pattern became embedded in my memories. I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed it before. I called my mother to ask if she remembered it, giving a vague description. After taking a quick snapshoot of the movie and texting it to her, she said, "Oh yes! I think its down in the basement in storage." That weekend, I made a special trip two hours away to my hometown to pick up the rug, only to not find it. My parents think perhaps they donated it or sold it off at a yard sale........ Now, literally, I'm the Dude looking for his rug.
