Hello! This is my first post for my first project - just basic stuff, I think. I wanted to apply some patches to a bomber jacket and maybe even some kind of painted decal on the back.
I really liked the "alternative" look to everyone's non-spacesuit costumes in Prometheus, so I wanted to make something that looked like it would belong in that universe by throwing some patches on a cool jacket I found that.

The jacket I believe is a reproduction of a Type IV flight jacket from the Canadian Air Force. 50/50 cotton/nylon shell with a sheepskin collar and wool lining.
Which begs the question - if the shell is 50/50 cotton/nylon, will ironing on the patches damage the shell or is just using fabri-tac good enough? Also, where should I place the patches? As in, are circular patches typically put on the right shoulder? I was planning on putting the wings and Weyland Corp on the left-breasty zone, but since it's an asymmetrical jacket, the left lapel is usually folded over that spot so the patches would only be half showing.
Additionally, the backs of those patches, I wish I could have taken a picture of this, has some kind of laminated stuff on them - could just be something to keep the threads in place. I don't *think* it's iron-on backing, but I have 0 experience with all of this, so I don't know what I'm talking about. I got these patches from patchesnpins.com if that's any help.
As for the painting of the decal on the back, I was thinking of putting the Weyland logo from the teal/black patch above across the back using some kind of stencil and paint - but no idea there.
Any advice would be ultra mega appreciated!
