Ok so here's the score, I'm sure it will be pointless to make a thread every time I have a new project to share so this is my miscellaneous thread, I'm sure I'll be making new topics but this will help cut back on spamming threads I'm sure enough people are already thinking oh god not more dark Asylum projects.
But if any one is a fan of my art and work I welcome you to the Asylum fassion your straight jackets and get ready for a dark and padded wall suprise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So the first project I'll be posting in this thread is a Captain America helmet which is part of a gallery for Children, I'm only building the costume or some custom parts so I can only take credit for the pictures I take of the projects.
First I will make the disclaimer of this is my version design and sculpt I was given complete artistic freedom which I was happy about cause I like to be creative and get away from accuracy some times just as I did with Dr. Fate. So I can expect Captain America fans may want to stone me to death over this one and I'm willing to take their criticism just as kindly as any one elses cause they want to see justice for there hero.
I'm a fan of captain america as well but I want something a little cool and some thing much different, and talking to the Photographer and lead guy working to get the gallery done about what would be cool as a new badass captain america and the idea became a skull cap as a modernized millitary style helmet, so serious armor but keeping the classic look and trade marks that make captain America, the American hero.
So steps in the build you know me no secrets here I made a quick base to fit a human head using simple plaster bandages using a 7 inch bowl for the head cap and a plastic face I use for other mask builds for fit and shape and here's the look of the base sculpt.
Next was the hardest part using AVES Epoxy sculpt to reinforce and skin the bandage base, very simple and I'm sure a few people might try my odd but effective method.
after I had my reinforced base I added a few guide lines and symmetry points I began the serious sculpting and designing as I progressed, some times you just got to let your hands work and don't think about what you want just what it will become.
Finally after a few weeks on and off this love/hate relationship I had for this project I finally got it down to something I really think was just a badass looking helmet version with a sharper crisp look like a WW3 Captain America more tactical with a very wicked look to it, something that makes him serious.
My first thought is one head butt marks the Enemy of America with a nice branding (A)
Just for the test I painted the sculpt with a Denver Bronco Blue which just looked perfect as far as color and being I was a huge Elway fan as a kid.
So now I just need to get the first helmet formed get some wings added, I figure it's just such a different design I'm bound to take heat over this one, but enjoy it for what it is and more updates to come.
