I'm SO EXCITED to finally get to post this thread. After YEARS of designing, refining, perfecting, perfecting again, and thinking this day might never come ... Project M is finished. The preorder is live right now at Saberz.com/ProjectM - if for any reason you get a warning or something about the SSL certificate, please ignore it - the page is safe, and our SSL certificate is fine, but for some reason a small number of people get a weird warning. Sorry for any trouble.

ANYWAY ... instead of boring you with a lot of reading, here are the highlights:
  • The DEFINITIVE Maul saber, designed using a screen-used saber as reference.
  • Hollow design, 28mm internal diameter, fits virtually any/all electronics
  • Hidden sound venting (watch the video)!
  • Intensive engineering makes for ZERO compromises on accuracy when accommodating electronics.
  • LIMITED EDITION version available (200 units worldwide) with screen-accurate paint and finishing, plus numbered plaque.
  • STANDARD EDITION available, comes unpainted, but bead-blasted and anodized for durability.
  • Lots of detail in the video below:

And a few glam images:

Again, preorders are now LIVE at Saberz.com/ProjectM - get yours now! Preorders for the Stunt Version (no buttons/greeblies) will follow in a day or two. Thanks to all of you who have followed this project, some of you literally for years, and for all the kind words and encouragement. It has been my goal to make the definitive Maul saber for over twenty years. With Project M, I truly believe that we are finally there.

Neat! Is there also a screen accurate resin version (static hilt) on the way soon?

Preordered a limited edition! I too would be interested in a static version, especially for your upcoming Projects O1 and Q1!

Is there ever going to be a static version, or is our best bet to get one of these and just not install it?

As you said, your best bet would be to buy one of these and leave it uninstalled. There were zero compromises made to accuracy, so there's no real use in making a separate static version. That's why we went to so much trouble to hide the set screws, hide the sound vents, etc. For my personal static copy, I'll just display it with the blade plugs in place. There's nothing to indicate that it isn't a legit static prop.

No, sorry. As mentioned above, for a static version, buy this but leave it uninstalled. There are no compromises to accuracy.

Sorry, I was referring to the all resin hilt. That's how the real screen props were made. Has a nice heft when all solid. I imagine that a hollow aluminum hilt would be lighter. Didn't you make the Obi Wan and Qui Gon resin hilts?

I understood the question, but no we will not be making Project M in resin. Again, there's no real reason. The weight is actually fairly similar. And if you want it to weigh more, you could always put something inside, since it's hollow. Given that they are both painted there is no discernable difference. So again, no reason from my perspective to make a separate resin version, when the alloy one does everything it does, and much much more.

You can see one in the intro video. HOWEVER, note that the unpainted version in that is currently clad in clear anodizing. The final production will use a light grey anodizing that matches what you see in the painted version in that video. So that unpainted version is a bit too light in color, the base will be a slightly darker tint to match the prop.

Does that make sense?
