Profiles In History June Auction

All I can say is: KEATON 1992 HERO SUIT!! WOOHOO!!! Except it has wonky-ass knees- it musta been a stunt suit, or for belt-and-up shots. No way did they ever show those knees onscreen......

I love the hacked Predator laser. I wonder how much they cost back in the day. Nice Alien stuff too.

What about the freaking Balok puppet!!!!!!!! :eek

Imaging owning a piece that is seen at the end of every single episode!!!! I really hope that ends up in the SciFi musium. I figured that had been destroyed at some point in time after filming. I would love to see that thing. I am almost tempted to fly out just to check out the items (although I can not afford any with out a lottery win :lol).

Man, where did all them tricorders come from.

It seems like there is a lot of screen used Trek items in all of the current auctions going on. I wonder if they found bunch of stuff somewhere or if someone is just selling off there massive collection.

=Mike=

Most of the Trek props are from one collector who decided to sell his collection right now......

How does it work when you bid on this stuff? I remember they used to list items on ebay as well. do you have to register with PIH and then bid or can you just do it through ebay?

Best way is to click the "bid online" link on the main page that the first link takes you to......then you register with live auctioneers and you can either pre-bid before the auction or follow the auction live (if you have DSL) and bid as if you were in the room, or both!!!!!

Thanks Propguy.

Now - when the price of the item states the estimate of being - oh, I don't know, 2,000.00 to 3'500.00 - does that mean the item has a starting bid of 2'000.00 - or can it start lower?

Ahh! That explains everything - I wondered how many hero props are made - wonderful stuff and pics!

BTW: I've always wondered, if Proper Effects had a website or can tell me more about the company, I've always heard.

Usually means it starts at the low end quoted ($2,000 in your example). If they get no bids at that price though they either skip over it or sometimes they lower the starting bid, but I have only seen that done rarely.

In the case of the Profiles auction house, they will keep items that receive no bids for 30-60 days after the auction closes in case they get any interest at the opening bid after the auction closes. So, for example, if an item has an opening bid of $300 and it receives no bids in the auction you can contact Brian at Profiles after the auction and he will usually sell you the item for $300, since most of the people consigning the items really want to sell them, even at the opening bid......I have picked up a couple of pieces that way......

Thanks again Propguy - all the info I needed. I'm ready to duke it out for a couple of Trek items on the block.

I would love to have that Krell locking mechanism prop from Forbidden Planet. But of course, then I would need a home theater to display it in.

I just wonder with all the economy issues, will this keep the bidding prices in check?

As a Ghostbusters nut, that shipwrecked Titanic model is fantastic (lot 975). Alas, I have no space for a five foot long ship hull in the living room. Why must life be so cruel and my house so small? Woe!

Shame the Harrier miniature from True Lies doesn't have the original markings. I guess it got used in another film and was repainted.

Hopefully it wasn't used in Battlefield Earth :)
