Prof Stears robot

Re: ROBOT retro full size Professor Stears

What did you use to make that arm joint? Really cool.

Re: ROBOT retro full size Professor Stears

Thanks, the circles are just made on a lathe.

Cool. So the piece the circle goes into (socket) is custom cut or is it a hardware find?

Great build.

Looks like you used a screen door piece for the piston behind the knee.

Re: ROBOT retro full size Professor Stears

This is an awesome build, I can't believe I've missed this thread until now.

I'm really digging the look of the hardware so far. I'll make sure to keep a better eye out so I don't miss the next bump to the thread. :lol

Re: ROBOT retro full size Professor Stears

The image is from the first issue of MAGNUS, Robot Fighter -4000A.D, first published by Gold Key comics in 1963 by Russ Manning. Manning created the character as a "Tarzan of the future". The common trraits the characters share are they were raised by beings of their environment and had well developed skills. Tarzan being raised by an ape, and having the skills of jungle life, Magnus by a self-aware robot and trained to fight and destroy rogue robots with his bare hands. I've always thought of the character as the ultimate "man vs. machine" senario.

If your interested, Dark Horse has republished the original stories in a few volumes of books. Mannings artwork is terrific. Check 'em out.

Didn't one company in the 90s restart the entire Magnus franchise too? That could be a good source but i'm not sure.

Re: ROBOT retro full size Professor Stears

Ahh, I see, Magnus is a robot as well!
(I wondered how he could neck chop that robot and not break his hand).

.

I think he meant that magnus is a human that is trained by a self-aware robot.

Hi Walter. I just deleted all the old files because the topic was dead in the water for over a month.
You're welcome to PM me.

Don't you think that is a little contradictory when being part of a forum like this? There are threads here that have been here almost as long as I have.

If you are going to play this game of taking your posts off of the forum, just do us all a favor and stop posting so we don't waste our time participating in a thread that becomes utterly useless because you decided what is relevant and what isn't.

I was genuinely interested in your work, now I could care less.

I totally agree. What is up with deleting everything? That seems truly antithetical to this forum.
