Prequel apologist check in!

*ducks head in, albeit with some degree of wariness given what bullying and harassment I've endured for years on other discussion forums, voicing the certain sentiments I'm about to* I loved the PT and I always have and I always will, and that is not something I do not or will EVER "apologize" for....because it's not wrong, it's not errant or misguided, and therefore there is absolutely no apology even remotely necessary, flat-out. Indeed, they are in point of fact what made me a SW fan; I saw TPM 13 times in theatres and it changed my life, and I owe so much of the creative, passionate, fandom-dynamic and assertive person I am now, outspoken in my imagination and vociferous in my expression of the same (and the fact that I am such a fiercely devoted and detail-oriented, deeply-committed cosplayer, as well, with full love of doing justice to character-!), to it and to the PT and to Papa George Lucas for crafting these beautiful, exquisite, marvellously complex and endlessly compelling movies....and this glorious mythic tapestry as a whole. I've always far and away preferred the richness of scope and complexity of storytelling and the exploration of "grey area" that the PT provides.

I love everything about them: characters, designs, artistry, story, dialogue, emotional scope and breadth and intensity - EVERYTHING. I'm beyond sick and tired of the contingent in fandom - who unfortunately scream down the rest of us in such deafening fashion - who continue to cling to their fevered and irrational hatred and negativity towards these films....for over ten to SIXTEEN years now. It seems to me profoundly disturbed to continue to hold to that and to evidently not be able to let it go and move on.

I love the PT and everyone who worked so hard on them, put full heart and soul into them, and I love George Lucas, and I support him with as much appreciation, profoundest respect and utmost passion just as much as I always have. I won't cease being outspoken about that and nor will the vast majority of people who do in fact enjoy and appreciate the PT in equal measure with everything else. Yes, they do, and we do. I am unfortunately very painfully aware that the negative echo chamber seeks to dictate the course of Star Wars. Indeed, if I may say (given my sixteen years of experience in dealing with what I have on various forums) the lack of respect shown the films and shown those who worked on them, GL included - by those in fandom, the media, even those directly involved with TFA - is truly reprehensible and shameful.

More, some of the comments made against PT fans and George Lucas (simply for making the movies he wanted to make and telling the story he wanted to, his way) have been plainly disgusting, and of the rankest insult. If they were said of anyone else, or as regards anything else, I'd imagine that they wouldn't be countenanced. But apparently the fact that they are directed at GL and the PT and at fans of said movies allows these comments and this pervasive, toxic attitude to slide and to be openly espoused....if not celebrated by some, evidently. This wholly erroneous, blatantly misleading anti-PT and anti-GL narrative has been purported for so long, years, against the PT and George Lucas. But those who love and enjoy the PT and who are equally as valid and worthy should not, and more to the point will not, be effectively shouted/screamed down and silenced any longer.

To quote Queen Padme Amidala herself, from the TPM "Tone Poem" commercial: "There are things I cannot do. But there are certainly things I will do."

*having said my Republic dataries' worth, ducks back out to watch the PT yet again, and take full great pleasure in it*

I don't love the PT, I'm okay with it, but I'm not one of the people who ran around with my head on fire screaming that Lucas raped my childhood. There are a lot of problems which have been discussed ad nauseam. I agree with a lot of those problems, but I still think a lot of people were just mad because Lucas didn't write the story they had in their heads for 16 years.

I really like the General Grievous character. I loved the pod race. For some reason I felt that both Liam, Ewan, and Portman had no soul. I thought Ewan should've tried to match Alec's accent better. But in general, I enjoy the prequels. I hate Jar Jar, but have zero problem with ewoks. It's probably an age thing. But I could watch any one of them at the drop of a hat and enjoy it. I loved the Cirque du Soleil thing that Palpatine and Anakin are at. I accept no apologies from George Lucas for anything. It's your stuff, George, thanks for sharing.
