PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

Ok ,lets back the truck up alittle bit shall we,....

When they say "the original Predator is back"
This is refering to the "original Stan Winston design", not the Predator character from the original 1987 film.
It will look like the P1 but is not the P1
The P1 is, say a different breed/clan? to the P2 or Wolf, Scar etc,....
Look at it this way, P1 type= African, P2 type= Australian, Scar type= ******* , and Wolf type= Canadian
That is the way that i read into it, i could be wrong but that's my theory :)

The FULL One Sheet Poster:

ridiculous length agreed, but at least it's not all curvy, i like the straitness, unfortunately none of us will be able to make one that works, :) i am eager to see this "sword-fight" though, hope it's done right...

Uh-oh... here comes Robs post...

Not to worry. It will be clean, but honest. Hahahah... no, not really.

I've been on pins and needles since the movie was announced. I've been scouring the internet for more information and such. I haven't posted much, but I've had a pretty positive feeling about the movie. Then I saw the pictures of the Predators in the movie. I don't care who took them, and whatever circumstance. Then I watched the teaser, and I really have to say that this movie really isn't doing much for me. First off, the "Hunting Dogs" are stupid. The "Mechanized Falcon" is stupid. Just stupid. Are people afraid to tell Robert Rodriguez that he has a bad idea?

Let me address something right off the top of my head... the poster. Yeah, it looks cool with the lighting and what not, but what's with the AVP arm sword? It looks stupid.

Anyways, the designs of the new Predators aren't what I expected. Or where they? You know what, Im not gonna tip-toe around the issue because as an artist I would want fellow artists and critics to give me their utmost honest opinion. The new designs are weak. Are they really trying to bring life back into the Predator franchise with these designs? They have the look and feel of leftover ADI concepts, and that's not an insult to ADI at all. Im just sayin' that the creature has come far from what it was, and not in a good way. Do they really USE the reference of the other Predators... or do they just SAY that?

I haven't read the script because I wanted to keep some of it a surprise. But what the **** is Laurence Fishburne doing in the movie? And how in the **** has he mastered Predator technology? In the pic I saw, not only does he have a helmet, but he's wearing gauntlets as well. How did he get them off the Predator without them exploding? And some how he's figured them out? Come on. This is all just too much for me.

Welcome to mixed canon: the non-removable gaunts are "just" there in comics and games, not the films.

(whispered) rob, please read the script... then i promise you can bitch, understand that i like your extreme style posting, or just simply not holding back better put, but just read it, not everyone is excepting it, im pretty on it's side, you might think it's stupid, but some things would make more sense is all i'm really trying to say, or maybe just read half of it, if you can stop :)

i can tell you, that i am slightly more excepting of different ideas than some, but the script, with the first set of pics, seemed ok but didn't really read very descriptively so you really had to use your imagination, but then mixing the script with the sneak peeks and concept pics, interviews, Q/A's, etc. have formed a really cool overall feel for me, mixed with what might not be a cast of completely likable by all people, but good actors at least!! which is a serious plus in my opinion. understand that they aren't trying to change the predator, it's meant to be the difference between America and Japan as far as cultures go, not to bring up any Japanese warriors buddy but seriously, Ive heard that the first predator script wasn't much of a read either, it was the talent of everyone involved that made it believable and just awesome!!

I'm just personally feeling like it's safe to start getting pretty excited about this, but some of us are gonna have to lose the idea that a predator can only be a certain thing, as many different totally awesome suits are on the lair, we should be able to do that. i really think they're tryin, and that they have examined all the mistakes the last 2 made, and have tried to bring the fear back in, just let it happen to us all

Well said there's many concepts on the lair (including my own) that some people will not like or don't seem in the vein of the original predator. But lots of effort has gone into those ideas and i admire that and if it looks bad ass that's even better!

Sorry, but the whole idea of a human surviving and escaping the Preds on their own planet is highly stupid unless they let him. I still think the storyline is ******** of the highest magnitude as well as some of the cast. They could've at least used someone in fishburne's part that didn't look like he's had one too many Pred jungle doughnuts! Whatever he's been eating in the jungle must be really fattening. The actor should've been LEAN from living off the land. Then again, maybe only his head and neck look fat. Haha. At least hopefully there will be a lot of Pred time in it with a scrap or two of something good that comes out of it.

The "Mechanized Falcon" is stupid. (...) Anyways, the designs of the new Predators aren't what I expected. Or where they? You know what, Im not gonna tip-toe around the issue because as an artist I would want fellow artists and critics to give me their utmost honest opinion.(...) The new designs are weak.

As much as I love the first movie, that started it all, I agree with what has been said above about Preds possibly being not the same thing al over and over again. In terms of suspense and (semi-)originality, it would be downright stupid. At least if you're a studio exec trying to make money OR a young writer trying to leave your own footprints. I'm not saying I like the new designs either. But obviously they're going to try something different here. Who in here ACTUALLY believes, that EVER a Predator movie could be as badass as the first one??? Anyone? Bueller? we're gonna bash it anyway.

What came first set a standard we simply don't like to be changed. Today, if a Pred showed up in a movie in a mechanized armor (e.g. the Borg), we'd probably all scream ripoff, stupid, doesn't need it, against his hunter/honor code etc and so on. Someone would go ahead and quote comics, someone else (me, for instance) would go and say **** the comics and so on. I'm just wondering whether anyone would call another member's design weak and stupid. Just a thought.

Personally, I do like the idea of a recon robot as in mechanized falcon. It makes perfect sense. One of the Preds' bio looks like the mask of Sauron. That I *don't* like.

I personally welcome the change, because they still kept what made them Predator, at least for me. Anyway- say they kept the "original design" instead- what do you think will be the reaction? "Oh this is just a copy. Why are they being so uncreative?" I for one really like the designs I've seen so far, as far as the Predators go. The designs are not ADI-ish at all- they have almost a Steve Wang-ish influence in their armor, while keeping them still mostly predator-ish in their designs.

Change is good, but stray to far from the original concept and the fans tend to doom your creation. Look at the suits and all the custom works here. The reason they work is that they keep certain aspects of the Predator, and make it personal, more elaborate, without straying too far.

The suits look VERY MUCH ADI in my opinion.

but thats alot down to the build and colour pallette they have chose, having said that , once ive seen the whole film i may very well think otherwise.

I agree completely.

I'm damn excited for this movie.

And I can't wait to get a good look at the Preds...especially without their masks.
I just hope that we'll get to see all 3 without them and not just the BSP.

Just watched the website sneak peak again and you know the drawing of the predator face there.Well couldnt that be concept for him cause as soon as the pic goes away he almost imedeatly talks about the super predator?
