Predator2 mask Journey FINISHED.

Its chavant NSP medium, as i dont get to work on my sculpts every day so i need something i can leave for days or sometimes weeks without worrying about it drying out .

Thanks for info. I've sometimes found working with clay troublesome and have done most of my work with Newplast (plasticine). It never dries out so can be left for ages. I usually cover it with clingfilm mainly to keep dust at bay.
Might give the chavant a try as it is easier to smooth out than Newplast.

looking awesome lee.

do u use isopropyl alcohol or lighter fluid to smoothen out your clay? or do u use a different technique?

I use fingers

naa believe it or not i use white spirits, i brush it on, leave it for a min then work it about with a brush, then ill go over the area lightly/quickly with my little butane burner. It has to be left for a few mins after as the clay is then very soft, i could speed up that time with a can of compressed air to cool it down, but i just work on somewhere else normally hehe

for finer details i use talc on a small brush to act as sandpaper, as the burner and white spirit are too harsh.

thx all

hopefully youll still like it when i get to finish the detailing. I imagine hes about 75% done now.

When you say white spirits, Lee----do you mean Mineral Spirits? I use 90% alcohol and a cotton rag on my Chavant medium. Q-tips saturated in the alcohol do a great job in the smaller areas. A little talcum powder on a small brush, eh? Never heard of that one, i'll have to give it a try. As far as using fingers, I hope that brown stuff on your hands is clay and not something else!

Scott , Nice to see you still around

Gene, not taking any orders till its been finished and safely out of the mold, but if you want one just shout me when im sorted.

Carl, not sure of the top of my head, the label has fell off the container but i know its just cheap white spirits for cleaning paint brushes. Ill have to have a go at the cue tip idea on my next sculpt

havent had a chance to do anything at all on this since the above pictures, and probably will not until this time next week.

i need to crack on as its taking up valuable clay
