Predator Homeworld Shot

Check it out, looks damn awesome, I read something that has made me wonder if the predator species lives on just one planet. With the advanced technology, what if every different clan had their own planet? Cool pic, I suppose we will have to wait and see whats up with it.

Any body else play Starcraft? The Predator race always reminded me of the Protoss, so when I picture the Predator world and society I always think of the cool cut-scenes in Starcraft that show cased the Protoss.

Protoss = Predator
Zerg = Aliens
Terrans = Colonial Marines

Cool pic by the way.

OH ME GAWD! Ive been waiting forever to see their home Thanks so much for posting this...Hey guess what?
21 MORE DAYS :p *faints* :lol:

Looks interesting...

It also now appears a fairly safe bet to say the Predator's don't buy into any of that "Fung Shui" crap!

Thanks for the pic!

nice pic, but i hope we only get a fleeting glimse. i dont want anything half assed explained.

I'm sure that they'll have a guy in a white lab coat come out and break it down for us 1950-movies-style, "Welcome to the Predator's home world; a hot and inhospitable place..."

Yeah! It's a cool piccy. But I'm with you Usurper, I don't want any crappy explainations and I sure as hell don't want any crap of a meeting with an elder telling Wolf to go clean up the mess with Pred dialogue.........Subtitled into English!!!..........ARGHHHHHHH!!

This could be a really cracking movie. But it could so easily turn into a huge dogs toilet filled with steaming turds. As the rumour mill turns it seems to be chucking out things that have great potential to suck. Lets hope it isn't so.

Well, I don't think it looks too bad. I always figured the Predators to be nomadic, living out of their spaceships, roaming the universe, etc.

The structures look generic, and they don't cater to one particular themed creature - P1, P2, or AVP. I was worried it would look too AVP-ish with big gay pyramids, and palm trees. I wonder how it flows with the rest of the movie. Hmmm.

It kind of reminds me of that prison planet from The Chronicles of Riddick.

Oooh Rob! You found my thought before me. I was wondering why that shot looked familiar. It does have a look of Crematoria from Riddick about it.

Quote: "big gay pyramids, and palm trees"

Thanks Rob! I now need to wipe my screen after spraying tea all over it

I hope this is all we see. I don't want the mistery destroyed. So far it's fairly acceptable but I have the same image of the Preds as Rob. I see them as nomadic creatures with no identifiable home, borrowing or taking technology from other worlds or races.
Maybe this is a clan outpost or something.
As excited as I am about this movie things like this make me nervous. This can turn into a pile of crap very quickly.
I agree with Usurper & Siniters. I hope they don't start with ******** explanations trying to put logic into all of this.
Oh well, 21 more days. Fingers crossed.

Moloch, where'd you get the photo? Not doubting its validity, but ya gotta give attribution.
Well, I guess this confirms last weeks rumor. Dark Hunter---looks like you can re-edit your post to read "We WILL see the predator homeworld". :)
It seems having a central crevasse in the middle of alien cities is still in vogue, a la Superman '78, Total Recall.
...........
Just did some digging, saw the new teaser this shot comes from, it's on Planet AVP, complete with a sprinkling of a few other new scenes. The homeworld shot lasts about 2 seconds, not much context there.
Check out the clip yourself:
New AVP-R Teaser with Homeworld Shot on Planet AVP
When the Planet AVP page comes up scroll down to the second entry, and right click on the actual link to download it to your computer to watch it. It may not play directly from the website it is linked to.

Crap, Planet AVP is blocked by my computer's security settings (Stupid work computer) have you seen this new teaser anywhere else?

man i must stop reading these threds, ive gone from hope to bloody dread again.

gonna be a sodding nightmare keeping away from threds while i wait for it to arrive in the UK :)

AMEN!

You guys might as well get ready for the dissapointment then. I mean comone they tried to give you some structure of culture with AVP. WIth the whole they come down and make humans host the aliens and then hunt for trials blah blah blah. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed the first movie. It did not tie the other two moives together but hey maybe I have read too many comics and that doesnt bother me.

In my opinion thinking that AVP sucked becasue it didnt tie the two together is like being mad that the new batman moveis have nothing to do with the old ones....

That being said I think the picture is cool. I would actaully like to see more. I dont care about mystery and all that crap. I would love to see how the predators do when they are not getting killed in everything. I mean crap one of the coolest race/monster/hero/ creature in movies always dies and never gets the spoils. I would liek to see one that has seen battle and can actually get threw it to live to fight again!

Thats a pretty generic shot with very little that can be made out clearly. Hopefully in the movie we see just a brief moment of the Pred planet. I dont care to see how they live...just how they hunt...

Personally the only part of their culture that would seem appropriate to me is the training and war aspects. Yes predators have little predators and somehow care for them, but there are simply too many ways to turn that into a completely un-needed, ridiculous mess. (Not that I expect the people at Fox or any future AVP director to think that aspect is necessary, just sayin. it could happen.) I don't mind a few quick shots of the homeworld though, as long as its nothing too wacky and as long as they don't waste any time making connections to other movies or our own culture, it should be fine.

Personally, I've always wanted a Pred movie that is primarily about how a hunting party or particular clan works. On the ship, in training, during a hunt, blah blah etc. This type of concept is probably way too involved to work and I think most of the people who would see the movie would probably be like, wtf is with the culture **** :) , that kind of stuff is generally extra crap that the die hard fans *ahem...us* would like to see. So it would probably never happen, and that might be best. Cause they're sure to screw it up in one way or another.

But if Predator 3 ever does happen, I'd like to see the possibility of more than one predator, a story with a really strong ..."intimate" type of bond if you will, between the characters of the hunting party. But to play it safe and to stay consistent with the previous films, it would most likely just be one lone pred.

ah hell, who am I kidding. they should just make a movie based off the damn comics and novels.
