Post your own ORIGINAL movie plots here.

I don't think anyone would argue that there's a huge social aspect to making a sale. This is necessary, but not sufficient. (Therefore, WHAT is written can -- and does -- make a difference.)

I may be a lackluster *****, but I'm trying.

Just as a point, almost everything I've posted in this thread came from the mouths of those who have a working career and extensive experience having their work produced. If you don't agree, that's fine, I'm just calling it as I see it...

Well maybe you write better than you read!

This is a thread, as stated in my first post, to encourage all those to post your ORIGNIAL idea. NOT to discuss ideas or how movies get stolen or made.

SERIOUSLY? What is so hard about this thread...Oh I know, it's a bunch no talent hacks that think that by posting their loglines that someone is going to steal their idea and make a blockbuster out of it...

You guys are seriously delusional.

You think that someone reading your AMAZING IDEA on the RPF is going to write the screenplay of the century, randomly submit it to a studio and get it made??? Oh my god!

Nicky, I am sorry to break this to you. But I don't care how many shorts you have made, how many scripts you have written but unless you have a studio exec in your back pocket or can blackmail one, YOU WILL NEVER GET A SCRIPT GREENLIT.....EVER.

This is just the business.

You think that someone reading your AMAZING IDEA on the RPF is going to write the screenplay of the century, randomly submit it to a studio and get it made??? Oh my god!

Just a note before I pop out, as requested: nobody is saying this. You're assigning that opinion, when nobody is claiming it.

Sorry the conversation branched out from what was apparently a strict prompt. I won't derail it any further.

Please don't post these things here as I don't want you dorks suing me.

So posting loglines in the clear is damn silly at best.

Gotta admit - this was my immediate reaction...

Suggest adding "If you're willing to share...!" to the original post!

You're assigning that opinion, when nobody is claiming it..

REALLY? I'M the one claiming this?... Again. I hope you write better than you read.

You guys obviously have NO idea that it isn't WHAT is writtein, it's who you KNOW that can get it produced.

So stop your armchair quarterback antics and let THOSE who have original idaes proceed.

It's interesting to me all the people that KNOW the industry but whom have never spent time writing, submitting or working in the industry that chime in knowing all....

Give it a rest you lackluster boners!

Since I've been quite vocal here, am I a "lackluster *****"...?

Brad - sorry... But I honestly can't tell if you're genuinely PISSED off, or are genuinely TRYING to P*SS people off.

You SOUND like your ego is bruised.

If you write with irony and jocularity, I'm not really seeing it.

Larry posted a rational thought. A few here agreed. And now we're getting sh**t upon by you; or so it seems.

Far be it for a dissenting opinion to crop up on an internet discussion board.

If I am reading you wrong, call me. Just don't call tonight.

PHArchivist, you can have that short story idea about the kid and the clay. It's based on the comment you made about how your deathstar nearly got damaged.
I really hope you make it as a home movie, I can even draw you some storyboards if you ever wanted to have a go. And as usual, if it get's picked up by TV for a short film etc I would like 1% of whatever they pay you for it (after costs).

Here is the problem Rob.

I post a thread asking people to share their original ideas for movies

You, Larry and others jump on the bandwagon of posting that people should NOT post their ideas because of fear that their ideas will get stolen.

Hmmm. Well I guess I would say that there was never an invitation in my thread for anyone to post their opinions on whether or not people should share their ideas but you and Larry felt it neccessary to say so anyway...Am I right?

Should I derail the topic of the thread, you or Larry or Nickytea post a thread on a topic YOU are interested about?

I don't see the confusion here?

Follow me here:

1) I post a thread asking individuals to post thei original movie ideas
2) Larry says that people shouldn't
3) You agree
4) People stop posting ideas (for the most part)
5) I try to get people to stop intruding in my thread
6) Peoples panties get in a bunch when asked to stop derailing my thread

Is there something I missed? :confused

Re: Postt your own ORIGINAL movie plots here.

Because space travel takes so long, the grey aliens have just reached earth after one of their ships crashed in Roswell. A covert team of aliens has to break into Area 51 to get their boys back.

I would want to watch this if the aliens were not all typical greys.
What else did you have in mind for the aliens?
Back in the early sightings days the reports of what aliens looked like varied greatly. I'm thinking an A team type combo of several different types of alien.

I have a few, and I don't think any would be either filmable or sellable, maybe not even writeable, as I don't have the patience, and no-one else would have the interest to bother since it's not their idea. This is one theat could work...

(If you decide to steal it, let me know, i need to do the concept art for the movie :) )

1. No title, maybe 'Race the sun' or 'Thunder Road' but it's allready used...
Plot: In either a post apocalyptic landscape or another planet, the break of dawn means an earth-scorching heat, while night time is ice cold winter. A team of drivers have to race the sun across a barren landscape to get supplies to the other side (other side of what?). To the experienced drivers this is just another day at work, to the new guy it's an adventure...
Pirates ,or whatever, waiting to loot them will show up :p
Original Idea: I just want to see loads of special built cars and trucks going across a landscape at near sound-barrier-breaking speeds.

You've never seen a high-speed chase or crash until you see this :D

Plot-holes:, Why don't they have planes? How do the society work if they have to hide from the sun all the time? Where do the pirates live? Why are there different 'sides'? Why don't they have tunnels?

Better yet, how do I take my ideas and get them optioned? :lol

Writing Movies for Fun and Profit: How We Made a Billion Dollars at the Box Office and You Can, Too!

I've always wanted to write...

I've always wanted to be a brain surgeon. ;)

And now, back on topic...

(PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER) A young girl is kidnapped by a boy she knows from school. He ties her up in a cellar and tortures her to death. At last, he kills her and dumps her body.

Eventually she is found, but the killer gets off on a technicality. Gloating and high-fiving his friends, he taunts the family in court. The father threatens him, is restrained by bailiffs.

Some time later, on the girl's birthday, her boyfriend presents the girl's family with a gift:

The killer, tied to a chair in a cellar...

(Sci-fi action fantasy thriller)
Title: "Earth, When Dinosaurs Ruled...?"

Billions of years ago when dinosaurs ruled. Aliens see the potential in the carnivores and set up farms and starve the herbivores, another tribe or race of aliens come down decide to save the remaining plant eaters.

Good aliens set up fortresses throughout earth with their own technology except the roofs, made from earth rocks. Bad aliens make acid weapons to destroy the alien tech, and make controlled black holes to eat the good dino's. War. Fight. Plus dinosaurs.

Roofs of fortresses become pyramids, black hole makes the Grand Canyon. Good aliens accidentally poison remaining dino's but choose to destroy themselves and enemies with the alien acid weapon, only destroying everything alien. One ship from each side escape, each ship with dino's.

Year 2040, man finds 50 mysterious eggs in a wrecked ship in the desert... Along with lots of frozen meat.

Would this be animated by Pixar?
I see the main problem being that you need to connect to the characters in order to care about what happens to them. That requires personal moments.
How will you get that in with all the acid and shooting and stuff?

I kinda winged it. Animation would be cool for Pixar, it would be more about earth itself and from the good alien's point of view of a planet being taken over. The alien acid weapons would only effect its own homeplanet materials since its their first time on earth and haven't sampled anything here to make new weapons. (yes a fictional fantasy, plus unknown alien tech)

The bad aliens' intent would be to breed carnivores and train em to dominate other planets as they did here while alive. Maybe flashbacks of the good aliens' home planet being taken over would be motivation for them to save the planet.

The good aliens are scientists that benefit good in exploration and studies but to never interfere with nature so much that it affects an entire planet. The bad aliens are pretty much just power hungry crazies haha. One group of good guys accidentally miscalculated the poison and it spread all over so they decided to sacrifice themselves and the dino's to save the planet before all the resources went to waste

You said earlier that you had in fact had a screenplay optioned by WB, so im guessing you do have the necessary contacts within the industry.

There are also others well connected on this board.

SO it seems perfectly reasonable to reserve posting an original idea for fear of it being stolen.

Let's try this...

Here is the problem Brad.

1) The intent of your thread is mildly challenged. Mildly.
2) You either consciously or sub-consciously accept the merit of the dissenting opinion and suffer a bruised ego
3) Through heightened sensitivity, you begin to superimpose an inflated degree of emotion (for example, "jump on the bandwagon" is a subjective and somewhat grandiose term intended to underscore the strength of the highlighted action)
4) You lose sight of the fact that this is a MESSAGE BOARD, with real people, in which topics will and do meander, and varying opinions will arise
5) You make efforts to enforce unrealistic guidelines of 100% perfect adherence to the topic cited in the OP
6) YOU fan the fire and YOU truly derail the topic by adding incendiary and INSULTING posts directed at those whom you've called "friend"

Fault is a matter of perspective, but nonetheless, I would ask, who is truly at fault here?

I don't see Larry, Nick, or myself calling anybody delusional armchair hacks, idiots who do not know crap about the business, or - what was it - oh yeah; lackluster-boners. And the only panites that are in a bunch that I can see are yours, as evidenced by your mild tirades.

Your response on this thread is neither characteristic, nor becoming.

Its time to let it go, my friend...

Its just an message board thread.

Not worth damaging reputations or relationships...

He was just having a bad day; happens to all of us.

Here's one for you, Brad:

ACTION: A hard-working couple finally gets time together away from their successful careers and busy lives and chooses a day on the beach. During their romantic interlude, a man on a parasail sweeps into view... They see he's trouble... He literally drops out of the sky at their feet. He's been shot, dead... And is carrying a laundry bag full of cash.

The rest is a shot-for shot remake of BULLIT. Get rights-and-clearances on the phone. :)

Yup, maybe more home-built-ish, with some defense weaponary, but not completely Mad Max, but those are only the escort and 'Pirate' cars, the actual freighters will look more like a aerodynamic Australian Road trains, with jet engines :p
The crashes would be spectacular :D
