Post your first prop!

Here are a few of my 1st props that I have pics to. Built during the late 80s into the 90s. The Han/Luke blaster built on a Mauser cap gun. The pic shows it many years old and in bad shape but it originally had a Tasco scope mounted to a door chain bracket with a space gun nozzle that resembles the one from the movie. The rest are my 1st true scratch builds I made out of wood that I really considered to be prop replicas and not just role playing toys. I still have all of them except for the toy Mauser and they have taken a beating in storage over the years and parts have disappeared.

My first was a Don Post 95 Boba Fett helmet. When I was a kid seeing this thing was stupid awesome. Spent all my time earning money to pay for half. Mom paid the other.
Still have it, although it has seen better days.

Don't have it anymore, but my first prop was a Logan's Run Sandman gun from Marco Enterprises.

The first replica prop I made was Indy's lighter I hand painted and sealed it with epoxy but the epoxy part fell off recently :(

The first real prop replica I built was a 1:1 proton pack made entirely of wood. I did very well with the dimensions but it's heavy as hell. Still have it.

I built a replica of Millie's gun from the anime Trigun for my wife to use as a prop for her costume of that character for Otakon in 2006 I think it was. It was made out of a cap gun, a bunch of carboard mailing tubes, foamboard, and lots of hot glue :)
Unfortunately I left it in the car after we got back from the con, and the hot glue melted in the hot sun, and all that was left was a mangled pile of glue-covered junk on my car seat!

A few props from my collection in Cosplay:

Lot's more to be commissioned to make hopefully in the future!

I made this when I was in 9th grade. I'm in 11th now.

Replicator I can't see I pic.very much interested.this is by far not my first build.but its the first one I started taking pics of.never got to finish this one...

My first prop ever (which took me YEARS to get) is my MR Mace Windu EpII Limited Edition Lightsaber hilt replica :D
mmmmm, I love it ^-^

Though I've managed to gain quite the collection during the last cupple of months :p
But that's for another time and another thread :D

/D

My first screen used prop was a pair of screen used background spiders from Arachnophobia I bought at MGM back in 1991 when I was 14ish. If I remember correctly, these were $1 - $5 each, foreground spiders were $10, "hero" spiders were $25, and wine bottles were $90 vac formed plastic.

The first replica prop I ever made from scratch was a custom hardware saber in 1997:

First prop kit I ever bought was either a Klingon Disruptor (it's in broken pieces right now, so I don't have a photo yet), or the Alien 3 Halcyon Facehugger kit somewhere around 1993ish (can't remember which came first):

Might have also been the chestburster:

However my very very first prop replica ever was a 4" long green piece of wood from a set of blocks that were bought for me and my brother to play with. I used to put the opening credit music on the 12" record of the Superman II soundtrack and pretend it was the power crystal, while dressed in my Superman pajamas.

Mine was very easy to make. I just dressed the first real MPP that I'd found, back in June/July 2000, when I first joined the RPF.

Very first prop, the one that got me on the replica prop kick? Hmmm...

I think it would have to be my trusty old "Red Fat Bat"

It pulled double duty as a lightsaber and Hawk the Slayer's sword. (Imagine that thing shoved down the back of a 5 yr old's shirt.)

More recently though, I started making 'decent' replicas. My first was a set of Wolverine claws for my '09 Halloween costume. Not so much a movie replica though, I tried to make a set of claws that made sense length and shape wise.

Here's a silly slideshow video I made of myself wearing them.

My first attempt at a 'REAL' prop replica was back in 1999. I made a graflex-ish lightsaber from a sink tube. There weren't any real plans or drawings that I could find at the time so I freehanded the 'S' curve with a sharpie then had at it with a dremel.
It's long gone, but it was a HUGE hit at the line for Episode I! Soon after I discovered the RPF, and along with that, all of the inaccuracies in the saber.... the rest, as they say, is history. :)
