dump em, or make them not viewable since the counts supposedly arent valid anymore anyway, just display member since date and thats probably valid enough...

They are perfectly valid for prop related posts. This is prop board, not an OT board so it seems more valid to me.

I'd be okay with that, but posts can also show how often they are online in case people are questioning one's reputability perhaps and wants to see how involved in the community one is.

You can still check their post history if you want to analyse how often they come on by posts. This is only the incrementing of their post count.

QFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The irony is killing me here.*looks to Mic's post count*

Personally, they don't matter a lick either way. If the staff needs it for internal tracking for JY access, keep them internal. Otherwise, post counts are just a number.

Where is the irony?

What's the matter? Do you think I post in the OT too much?

Oh I see it's not okay for Matt to call out DarkHelmet, but you can make your snide little comment toward me.

Nice.

My point about the irony is most of us gathered our post counts from things such as the flame pit and the OT forum in the early days. I know most of mine came from OT posts. I do not begrudge anyone their OT posts, Mic. It just seemed like your QFT was doing that very thing, so I saw the irony.

Well a search will reveal that I have started 37 threads in the Prop, Costume, Model or Studio Scale Forums. Yet only 20 in the OT forum. And 18 in the Junkyard.

I just don't see the irony.

But YES, I think ones OT posts should not overpower ones participation in the PROP part of this forum. That's what it's supposed to be about.

I am not being snide at all with this question by the way. It is an honest question. I didn't want anyone thinking I was being a smart butt. Here is my question:

What is the purpose of having your posts counted? I was honestly curious, being kind of new around here. (Less than a year member, I am)

Thanks

I guess the point is it shows how active someone is on a forum, to be honest i think it's just a standard feature built into all forum software i've never seen a forum that doesn't show post counts vBulletin,Invision they all show it.
I don't see any real reason to remove it personally.
I mean if post counts don't bother someone they don't need to take any notice of them i know i don't.
It is helpful for the Admin side of things though as the recent pruning shows there are a lot of zero post people registered some of which are no doubt sockpuppet accounts of banned members.

I never really paid much attention to it either way. I read a little bit about post count topics from the past. Why do people seem to obsess about their amount of posts. It's kind of weird, people getting so upset about it. I guess it's none of my business, it just seems a weird thing to get all passionate about, post counts. LOL

I'm just glad to be here, ya know! :$

It's strange i know, I've been a member on many forums and honestly this is the only forum i've noticed that anyone really takes any notice one way or the other.
