Possible new animated Trek series

How else was I going to interpret your "innocent" question when all you've done was call those who didn't like the new movie "clueless" and that we should just accept that Star Trek should be in the movies?

Solo gave you the correct interpretation, upthread. Also, show me where I called anyone "clueless" so I can apologize. That'd be terribly out-of-character for me.

But I assume you're OK with being a ******* to me since this part continues to go unaddressed by you...?

If you don't want me to misinterpret your posts as being negative, don't write it in a sarcastic tone.

Ok.

Abrams Trek rocked, you people are clueless.

I'm with you.

Why include the part of micdavis' sentence that is out-of-character with you? Why shouldn't I assume that you agree with him in thinking that everyone who didn't like the new Abrams movie are clueless when you quote those very words and say "I'm with you."? You didn't include the last part of his post where he said that he would like to see something else be done, so you're obviously not with him on that.

I can't be responsible for how you read "tone." And I'd appreciate it if you'd stop being intellectually dishonest by equating general agreement with a statement made by someone else with a direct quote you erroneously attributed to me.

I find it mildly amusing that you have an issue with fictional characters treating each other poorly in a filmed entertainment, but an actual person telling you (three times, now) he doesn't appreciate your actual personage being a ******* to him goes unaddressed.

If you guys keep on fighting like this, I am going to throw some of the Vader guys in here to put you all in your place and show you what real cut-throat and endlessly picky fighting is all about...

they are just trying to cash in on the success of the clone wars.........

sorry had to say it.

if they do a trek animated then they need to go old school.

I can't speak for Jeyl (and if I did, she'd probably disagree with me :) ), but I see our exchanges less as a "endlessly picky fighting" and more of "expatiating our own viewpoints."

Me, I'd be happier if my viewpoint didn't get willfully misread, but, hey! It's the Internet.

STARSHIP FARRAGUT

Here is a group of fans who have been making episodes focused on their own little story about the crew of the USS Farragut. Not only is the animation process exactly like it was from the original animated series, but they even managed to get some of the franchise's talent involved like Tim Russ and Chase Masterson.

STAR TREK: FINAL FRONTIER

For the modern official take, we have Star Trek: Final Frontier (No relation to Star Trek V: The Final Frontier). This series was to take place in the 26th century long after the events of Nemesis. You gotta give the developers some credit for wanting to take Star Trek back to the old days of "seeking out new life and new civilizations." and not fighting insane romulan associated rock miners who want to destroy the Federation.

Yep. :)

Interesting.

I wish they had been able to get this animated Trek made. Sounded pretty cool:

Star Trek: Final Frontier - Front / Blog

To turn this back in the direction of Abrams-verse dogpiling, I have three problems - in addition to some previously mentioned here:

one is a fairly throwaway line, where Kirk informs the crew that Spock had "resigned his commission." He most certainly did not. He relieved himself of command, which is not at all the same thing.

The second is a basic plot element: a star which can, on going supernova, potentially destroy the entire galaxy. Now, either Spock was speaking metaphorically (the destruction of Romulus would lead to a political imbalance, resulting in war) or I call shenanigans.

Lastly, why bother to dig a hole in the planet just to plant a black hole? Here's a concept: a black hole born on the surface, or even in the atmosphere, is really going to work just as well. In fact, it solves the whole problem of your ship being vulnerable while waiting for your Romulan post hole digger to get done.

Overall I did find the movie to be fun, but IMHO it doesn't stand up very well to a close inspection.

For the record: I'm only a fan of TOS show, and the cartoon, and TOS movies.

But I did really like the new movie, Trek09 ?

All those tv shows from TNG up I thought were not my cup of tea.

I would welcome a new animated show to get kids hooked on ST and keep the franchise going. Clone Wars is keeping SW alive for a whole new generation of fans.
