Poor Things - BEWARE

It’s been a VERY long time since we walked out on a movie but Poor Things is complete trash. I don’t know how this movie wasn’t classified as pornography. It’s hard to understand the rave reviews and the movie being up for best picture. Too bad too… it had a really cool premise with big actors. My wife and I along with one other couple were the only ones in a huge theater.

Haven’t seen it, but I heard there was nudity. Sounds like it’s more than that. Think I’ll wait until it’s available for streaming. Thanks.

Hmm.. I agree with you on a certain level. The amount of "sexual situations" did seem excessive and my wife and I discussed if they were really adding anything after the 4th or 5th one.. But one of the themes was that Bella goes on this personal journey and doesn't feel shame or the need to explain her sexual encounters, and there's certainly merit in that. As an audience did we need to see the entire journey, I don't know, but in some regard it also brings to light our own personal bias, and there's merit in that as well. I had a bigger issue with the timeline in the movie, because by my estimation, she was still a young child when Mark Ruffalo's character elopes with her.
More often than not, while watching movies with obnoxious run times lately, I'm questioning if all the story needs to be told. And usually my answer is no.
Poor Things could have cut 45min of sex scenes out of the middle and it would have been the same movie.

[Too Much Garlic]

Finally saw this. A nice new alternate take on the Frankenstein concept. And well performed. Deals with a lot of difficult themes and taboos.

Definitely not pornographic compared to what we have over here that can be more explicit and is still not considered porn. Erotic, maybe. Maybe we are just more open and used to these things here.

Definitely a recommended watch from here.
