Ponda Baba Racing Jacket question

Hi,
I´m searching for an Ponda Racing Jacket. I know is a often used Jacket in the 70´s but I can´t find it. These Jackets are really often in the OT.
Maybe someone can help me.

People have been looking for it for years because it is the same one used for the Rebel Pilot cold weather jacket and Luke's ceremonial jacket.

The jackets appeared on screen prior to Star Wars on Space 1999.

A quick search on this lead me to this blog post http://costumesandartwork.blogspot.com/2010/01/hoth-rebel-snow-speeder-pilot-jacket.html that seems to confirm the Space:1999 connections. A dead link there mentioned a Rebel Legion tutorial on making the Hoth pilot jacket, and justification on the fact that the writer belives it is not insulated. A few more searches and I found this link http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19591 which seems to be to the aforementioned jacket tutorial.

Hope this helps. I've never been able to find the original manufactor, but have been told it resembled some light weight cafe racer jackets from back in the day, maybe a poplin material?

I think it´s a Ski Jacket from the 1970´s. I hope somebody can help me to find one or knows people who can sew this.

Hi all,
I´ve found this Skijacket from ANBA Austria from the 70´s. It Looks very similar to the screen used Jackets. The only big difference is, that the pattern on the arms is a little bit larger.
So it could be the same Company produced these Jackets.

I think the one you found is very similar to one Kelso (Kucher) wore in a episode of "That 70's Show". It caught my eye because of the similarities to the screen used jacket. Its why I started looking into ski jackets many years ago as possible sources.

In the Holiday Special he is wearing a short sleeved version of the jacket. I'm guessing they cleaned up, altered and reused the original New Hope jacket with the arm cut off for the light saber scene. Can anyone confirm that?

There is a replica of the jacket that is considerably cheaper than having someone make it for you, and it comes with the Medal of Yavin. I have the jacket and I love it. Is it 100% SA? Not,but it's an awesome jacket and collectable.

Baron Flux on the Rebel Legion is doing a run. Its the snowspeeder version so the chest pocket is slightly different since it holds the rank badge, but the sewing is great. Its not padded like the original other than the collar but it looks awesome!

did a search and that jacket looks very nicely done (at least the one he wears).

not sure why people call the badge in the pocket a rank badge. I guess people see the colors and think rank. Most likely it is some sort of ID/security badge. After all, why would you wear two separate rank bades that are completely different? Look at Luke's patrol gear and even his flight jacket ( you just cannot see it under his vest most of the time). Leia does not maintain a rank and han wears cilivian gear so it would make more sense that those devices are security/ID badges.

I have His Hoth jacket and despite the lack of padding inside it's very accurate and looks great!
