Please help with ideas for a new sword project

I picked up this blade cheap at a garage sale. After about 5 days of thinking about it, I can not come up with an idea for a hilt. So, I am asking for help and inspiration with a cool and unique handle for this blade. Anything you drew, your favorite sword, anything helps.

How long/wide is it? Is it stainless or carbon steel? Were I you, first thing I would do would be to cut off that thin rod pretending to be a tang and then grind or cut down the ricasso into a proper tang. As for what to make it into after that, I'm thinking of the Ordon sword from Twilight Princess.

I can't tell from the pic. Is it a double sided strait blade . or katana...

It looks like one of those inexpensive blades that you can pick up at the ren fair for like $40.00. If it is, it's probably fairly soft, which means easy to cut. Cut it up and turn it into a display piece, Narsil style.

I like DeathFromADesk's idea a lot.

I was going to suggest a Strider's ranger sword. The blade looks similar to his although I'm not sure its long enough

Here is a pic of the end. It is 3 feet long and 3 inches wide. Yes, it is a cheap sword. Not sure I feel like cutting it up.

It's an inch too wide. but you could make a cylon sword easily
