Plants vs Zombies

Everyone in my family (even my 3-year old) loves playing "Plants vs Zombies." So, we put this together for a "scarecrow" Halloween display at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens (which means it has to be able to survive the elements for a month outdoors.)

A fun project, and my first time working with the "pink foam." That stuff is great, although it sure would have been nice to have 2" thick sheets instead of laminating 1/2" sheets.

Yes, it was a family effort over the last week. I made the pink foam pieces (zombie heads, sunflowers) and pvc pipe "skeletons," the boys (3, 5, & 7) made a paper-mache walnut shape and helped paint, and my wife sewed the clothes and used Great Stuff to make the walnut and potato mine.

The pink foam sheets were laminated using wood glue (eight sheets for each zombie head) pressed under a weight overnight.

And yes, my boys wanted to do the backyard with pool, the roof top, a gargantuar, etc. Had to reign them in a bit. Maybe next year...
