Planet of the Apes Survival Pack Replica

This was posted here a while back but, I always wanted to make a practical "real world" version of this backpack.

That's a pretty cool thing, but I really... REALLY... want that Lawgiver statue! :eek

I wonder how many of those they've sold? It'd be a pretty neat decoration for an Apes-themed home theater!

I'd love to have one of the survival packs too, I don't have any Apes related props in my collection (just the POTA DVD and soundtrack) and that would be ideal.

What make and model is the pistol? Looks like an early Colt pocket gun of some kind?

That's awesome! I caught the 1st Planet of the Apes this morning and watched a bit of it. One thing I noticed when all three were in the desert was that Chuck's pack was slightly different from the other two...his had a hump in the middle section of the pack cover....

It is a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless, probably in .380 caliber, but possibly in .32 acp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Model_1903_Pocket_Hammerless This was also used in VTTBOTS episodes as an undercover pistol. I remember reading when "The Rocketteer came out that they had to have several of these pistols refurbished, as no one had used them in movies in a long time.

I actually know someone who carries one of these. It was his Grandfather's pistol when he was a Police Detective.

I always thought that all the packs were different, because they all had different gear, and supplies. But then it has been years since I have seen POTA.

I watched that movie again recently and liked the backpacks. However the more i thought about them the more I realized how clunky and uncomfortable they would be.
Still cool though.

Sincerely,
the Wolf
