Re: Pirates Of The Caribbean - On Stranger Tides Master Costume Thread SPOILERS BEGIN
The Silversmith buttons are also used on the breeches but they are a smaller size than those on the waistcoat.
The button size is 24L for the breeches and 28L for the waistcoat. Those are British button sizes. Size 24L is about 15mm, just a wee bit shy of 5/8th inch. Size 28L is about 18mm and just a little over 5/8th. These buttons in those sizes are available in the UK. What's available in the US are the big old 7/8th inch ones which would be about a 34L and I think there's even a bigger one that's 1 1/4 inches or something? Button size conversion chart
I always thought the brassy looking ones people were using on their breeches had been the silver ones that had had the heck weathered out of them and got them down to their brassy looking beginnings?? Until I found a place on line that sells that 15mm size and they are bronze-y.
The 15mm (24L) Silversmith button....
Can be found on this page at Textile Gardens # TGB116...... They aren't being called Silversmith on that web site, but Silversmith is the name that design was marketed under in the US.
Looks like they make that design in nearly every millimeter, as there are listed 22mm, 25mm and 27mm sizes also. Might be some 18mm waistcoat ones on there, I didn't look at every page.
But.........shockingly!!! they also have the buttons for Jack's new waistcoat in POTC4--THESE!! On this page #TGB1002
Very, very, very reasonable prices on all the buttons! Cheap, in fact, I'd have to say!! Get 'em while they last ladies and gentlemen!

I'm sure this question has been answered before but I'm looking for a quickie answer:
Are the silversmith buttons also used on the breeches? If so, are they the golden ones vs. the silver ones on the waste coat?
