Pirates 4 in 3........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......DEEEEEEEE!!!

Agreed!! It seems like they throw movies at us in 3-D when they fear that the film will not hold up on its own merrits. Like the novelty of the 3-D will distract us from a poor story. I heard they were not happy with the Green Hornet dailies, so they are considering making it in 3-D as well.

The thearters near me (mostly Regal) offer 3D or regular viewing. I won't pay extra for 3D anymore after seeing Alice in Wonderland. It doesn't enhance the film in anyway for me. Instead it seems a bit blurry at times.

As long as they shoot it with a little bit of the classy effects it shouldn't be to bad in my opinion. I haven't seen avatar but i hear they used good effects rather than the regular 3D in your face stuff?

I am just happy that they are doing a 4th, cant wait to see what new props are in store. Speaking of which does anyone have a license still to produce them, I heard MR is gone?

I honestly don't think it's that. Or at least not completely. I think it's just that the studios look around and say "Hey, those guys have a 3d movie. *WE* gotta have a 3d movie now... what can we crank out?"

Kinda like how back in the day when Motley Crue and all the so called Metal bands were going glam and then Guns N Roses came out. Suddenly, everybody was falling all over themselves to sign up any scruffy group of guys that played instruments and looked "street."

Alice wasn't shot in 3D, it was done in post. Don't let that film be the measure of your 3D tolerance.

Nice that they are at least taking the effort to FILM it in 3D and not make yet another poor 3D CONVERSION. But that doesn't change the fact that I'll probably won't see PotC 4. 3D for me is, if done right, a nice addition to look at when I actually like the movie. After being very disappointed by PotC 2, I didn't even bother to watch the third one in theaters and out of curiosity borrowed the DVD later from a friend. Never in my life have I been so bored by a special effect orgy that simply didn't want to end. Even the best 3D couldn't have saved this movie for me and my expectations for PotC 4 are extremely low due to the two sequels, so 3D alone won't make me see it.

don't worry; F13 Part 3D long ago set that bar immeasurably low.

I dunno man, Jaws 3D was awful, as was one that rings a bell....

Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn.

Me and a friend were the ONLY two in the theater. What an awful movie.

And you do realize this is a Disney film, right? They love this 3D stuff!

I thought AIW 3D was nice. Maybe one or two campy 3D effects but Avatar had them too. Like I stated before 3D is nice if used to show amazing vastness views of landscapes AND for adding depth between objects in foreground and background.

If used for flintlock barrel in your face effect jumping off the screen I don't want that. Although the rumors of the budget cuts to P4 have been confirmed false by T&T on Wordplayer.com shooting in Digital 3D is going to drive production costs and post UP, UP, UP, UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

Yeah, there's always options...if you wanna see it in 3D, get the glasses and go. If you don't...then...STFU and watch the regular version :confused

Well, at least they're shooting it in 3D, which is better than what most of the studios are doing right now.

No it's not that. It's partly the everyone else is doing it bit, but mainly it's the 'we can charge an extra 50-100% for the 3D version'.

Boy "bitching" and "STFU".....hope those weren't directed at me! Getting a bit personal now aren't we?

The reason I don't want it in 3D is because I will see the premiere at Disney's El Capitan theater. This is the best venue to see the POTC movies especially with all the displayed costumes, props, etc. So it would be nice to see it in 2D as I did POTC 1,2, and 3!

I agree that the Alice in Wonderland was a disspointing use of 3-D, but there are some movies that use it very well, like Avatar.
Some movies are really great for the 3-D format, like the PIXAR films and the upcoming Green Lantern movie...in the end though, 3-D should not be necessary to enhance the vewing experience if the story is engaging and strong...

I think I saw that eFX had picked up the Disney license (eFX is more or less the people that were at MR before they were bought out by Corgi)
