Phoenix * Cactus Comicon 2006 September 23 & 24 2006 Mesa Convention Center

I'm going to try and get there inbetween work on Saturday as it's the only time I can go, and I'd feel really silly not going since it is in town and all.

Nice. Who else will be there (propmakers and other guests)?

Will the props be behind glass or can people touch/inspect them?

It was good to meet some of our local RPFer's today. The convention had a pretty big turnout.

I got in late and the Richard had to leave so I had to mind the display with JR leaving a only a bit of time at the end of the day for getting pictures. I'll get some more tomorrow.

Here is some green guy. His costume was really nifty...and green. People liked getting their picture with him.

Here he is with a shaved Ewok or something. Note the shelf in the background. On the shelf is a Boba Fett style hat painted red and tan. Whats up with that?

Here is a scout trooper. Her hat looked off the shelf and not very good.

You already know that no convention posting is complete without the chix dressed like Japanese cartoon characters. The girl on the right stood still in a bad neighborhood for too long and somebody wrote grafitti on her.

Here are a few more pictures I took.

Here is a gun that RAC made. It's from The Greatest American Hero. I believe it was second season. Not exactly a well known piece but I like it because of that. At the very bottom of the picture you can see one of those paper trays that still has some cheese in it from nachos. Mmm.

Here is an outnumbered jedi about to get his butt kicked but he doesn't know it yet.

Here's a picture after disposing of the body.

I don't who this chick is but she should have brought the big gun.

I guess this is what women in prison wore during the Victorian era.

Here's about half the floor of the dealers room.

No problemo.

There was some pretty cool stuff there. There was a neato Viper Mark 7 model, some guys who made custom sabers, a bunch of artists that I did not know but had some great work. They were selling their work and signing it. Lois Lane was there. I did not leave the dealers room so I don't know what other stuff they had.

Marty with Sci-Fi Friends was selling a really crappy recast of Rick Ross's BR gun that was good for a big laugh since it looked like a 29th generation casting that was missing the bolt lever. Any smaller from recasting and you could call it a derringer. I would have been ashamed to say I owned the thing let alone sell it. The thing would have been no threat to Ricks sales if Rick still made them.
