Peter Flarkin' Quill ( Star Lord)

I spent the night on the costume. I managed to get the chaps polished up. I like the look but I'll probably still tumble them around a bit for good measure and see what the look like from there. Weathered then polished on the left, just weathered on the right.

While I had the polish out, I figured I'd hit the jacket too. Many folks have complained that the jacket is too red, and I have also disliked how "red" the jacket is. I figured if I hit it with a little black shoe polish I could adjust the color some. I'm pretty pleased with the results so far. I will still age the jacket some by tumbling it with some rocks then I may polish it again. Here's a couple shots of the jacket. On on the front the polished side is on the left, in the picture of the back of the jacket the polished side is on the right.

What do you all think?

I also managed to get some work done on the blaster as well. I wrapped the handle in carbon fibre vinyl, and can say honestly I never want to do that again. Unfortunately I have some vinyls to attach to my car sometime soon, but I'm sure it won't be nearly as complicated as this operation.

I have also started the paint on the blaster now that the wiring is all run. The silver is setting up currently and the paint mask is drying. I'm hoping to get onto the second colours tonight after some work on the car.

Loving your build Jackal, it's actually helped me get done ideas! Here's my finished Davy bucket, minus original lenses. Keep it up man!

I have been working on things, but it certainly seems to be going slower than I'd like. I've been getting some painting done, and got in the pants I was waiting on. Pants have been modified and I even cut the liner out to make them a little less warm to wear.

Here's a little of the painting I've been doing as well. I've taken a few liberties with the paint, but it just felt right, so it's not screen accurate or anything.

Still need to trim them down a bit. Even without the helmet I think I'll have enough to be recognizable. The helmet may have to wait until my local comic con. This week to finish will be the Element gun and the wiring for it, along with the rocket controls and the rockets themselves. It will be a long week of work for sure.

The hits keep on coming. Finally got the Element gun done tonight. The wiring was a pain, but I managed to stuff it all in there. I have since weathered the gun a bit more and am happy with the look of it. Thanks Kevin Gossett

I have a few other projects rolling for the costume as well. No words, sleep time.

I'm also finishing up my other... longer term project, and getting her ready for hibernation. The two projects and a full time job, mixed with touring recently have me exhausted.

Tonight on tap is to figure out the bottom of the pants and the rockets. I have a set that I'm not satisfied with, and will be having a different set finished for my local Con. This set won't be fully finished and I won't spend a tonne of time on them. I'll just spray them and give them little detail. I should be able to set up the magnets in a way that the new rocket boots will still fit.

I'm a short guy and will need to cut out the zipper and some length from the pant legs. I need to create a belt loop for the belt I'm currently using, and hope that for the Con I'll have a better one made.

A couple more items knocked out last night. Firstly was the jets. I have a set I'm not thrilled with, but lacking another solution at the moment, I painted them up very loosely. I really didn't want to invest a lot of time into them since the ones for the next Con will be different.

I also painted up my Drinkman. I haven't put any other decals on it to emulate the white Sony writing on it though. That may have to wait. I like how it turned out. I'll be using a clip from an old tape measure to hang it off the belt.

Hanging the Element gun was going to be tricky I was thinking, but stumbled past a cheap belt clip for cell phones. I'm using it to support the blaster, and the lock keeps it from popping out.
