Pepakura Build - Foam to Cardstock? Newbie

Hey guys!

I'm very new here, so I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I've just recently gotten into the prop building scene and decided to start off with Pep. I've already completed two basic builds from start to finish, as well as completed about 3 or 4 other pep files. I'm fairly confident on using the program and building them. But I'm still new. I kind of picked it up without really looking up any tutorials or learning much about the software.

I recently came across a pep file that I absolutely loved, but it says it is modded for a foam construction. I never made anything out of foam and don't really want to make this particular build with it. So my question is; Can the foam pep file be constructed from cardstock and still work the same? Or does it have to be modded specially to be cardstock compatible?

Given my lack of knowledge with the program, I wouldn't know where to start in terms of modding the file. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

You can just add the tabs back on. Most foam peps still have all the original pieces on the file, just dragged off the "paper" if you zoom out you can see it. All this can be done in the Designer software.

Yeah, I was able to add the tabs and all of the missing pieces. But then as I was building it, I realized that it wasn't really taking the right shape and looked very deformed. I discovered that this is because it was missing a lot of important folds in the pieces. I didn't know how to add the lines where they belonged, so I undid the unfold and then redid it. Once it unfolded itself, it automatically had all of the lines where they belonged.

But now I fear that the end product won't look right. The pep file I'm referring to is the Deathstroke Injustice helmet by JFCustom in this thread http://www.therpf.com/f24/new-deathstroke-mask-184660/

I might be wrong, but if the files that you have are already modified for foam (hard-coded that way), I dont think you can bring it back to "paper shape"...

Most likely, the reason your cardstock is not taking the right shape is because it's missing the thickness of the foam, the reason why it was modified in the first place!

Trying to bring back details that were on the paper files is similar to having a HD picture, saving it with low resolution, then taking this low resolution image and trying to get back to high definition with it! the information is just not there anymore. :unsure
