Pardon my noobness, but... (DL-44 question)

I live in Australia and have recently acquired a Denix Broomhandle Mauser to convert to an ESB Han Solo DL-44. I've given myself to October to have a whole ESB Han get-up completed. Alas, I emailed Blast-Tech last week and they are out of stock on Type II conversion kits until June! I'll wait if I have to but my question is, are there any other alternative (and accurate) sources for the add-ons (flash-hider, scope, etc)?

Thanks for your help. :)

You should be able to find some of the parts from Doopydoos. They sell resin casts of the various pieces. It doesn't look like the flash hider is a separate piece, but you might be able to ask them for just the scope, mount, and various greeblies from their ESB kit. I have their E11 Hasbro conversion kit and it worked out great. They are in the UK though, so shipping may be a premium.

Good luck :)

The problem with Doopydoos is their parts are in resin and you seem to want metal parts (I don't blame you, so would I). I seem to remember Fenix Props and Corellian Exports may have done some bits in the past though I may be wrong.

However, seeing as they're getting the bits you need back in June I'd just do another part of my costume then get the Blastech bits when they have them back in stock.

Thanks for your help, folks. I think I'll shelve the gun for now and concentrate on that damned Bespin jacket. :wacko

Yeah, I'll be putting it together myself, though I'd be modifying the hell out of the DA pattern if I were to use it. According to a few in the know, it's apparently not that accurate.

it will be worth the wait Blastech stuff is awsome

Not really screen accurate, but most people out there will never notice.

And it´s a easy kit, no ordering from several places with several shippings.

But you have to realize it´s not screen accurate before you order - it´s annoying if you notice it later, and see it then ever and ever again .... until you buy other parts.

But for costuming it´s OK, i guess.

I know Blast-Tech don't do the small tear-shaped greeblies or the nuts either side of the piston. I was kinda hoping to be able to mock something up myself. Unless of course anyone here has any suggestions for applying these smaller details?

It was nothing short of a significant miracle that I was even able to (legally) acquire a Denix Mauser in my state (Victoria), let alone Australia, considering our gun/gun replica laws are the tightest around. I figure a Denix, plus the Blast-Tech add-ons, may be my best chance of possessing a 'mostly' SA DL-44 without the threat of having anything imported seized by customs. Even importing a white, disassembled resin kit is a gamble here, it's ridiculous! :(
