Got a deal on a Rubie's Han Solo blaster (which thankfully actually shipped to me), so I decided to make it into a more accurate-looking replica. I filled all of the major screw holes (except for the battery compartment, as I'm actually selling this on my Etsy store, and I didn't want to completely remove the sound effect feature), drilled out the ones in the flash hider as well as one for the fake cocking hammer, sanded it all down to remove any info that was molded onto the plastic, and prepped it for paint.
I used flat black primer for the main body, Rustoleum aluminum finish paint for the flash hider, and mixed some brown acrylic paints for the handle, which I brushed on. I weathered the edges of the blaster with a silver pen, and gave the rest of it a dry brushing of some black and light tan acrylic paints, as I really wanted it to look like it had been through a few skirmishes.
Not the most accurate representation of the blaster, but for a costume piece conversion, I think it looks pretty good!
